Write a book or screenplay

i’ve been blogging about this but what i’ve been trying to do is write out short little stuff about the various ideas i’ve had for films. i thought i would first try them out as short stories or novels before i crafted them into screenplays. in june i wrote in my blog about how i had created a “word file that is a template for fictional works. i put down the theme, treatment, and any character and scene ideas that i have. once i have those issues sorted out, i will work on the story.” only, i haven’t worked on the stories yet. my bad. instead i’ve been working on my first screenplay for a 5 minute animated taking the piss out of our (me + veronica) travels to new zealand sort of deal. i wrote the first draft, then made some corrections and wrote out a few scenes i had left blank to make it version 1.1. now i need to write out the remaining blank scenes to create version 1.2. then i will rewrite it to get version 2.0. forget that neither of us can draw and have never created animation. forget too that neither of us can immitate the kiwi accent. just concentrate on the story, on making it tight, on making it funny. this is a 2 person project. i like that it is a small and intimate project. if i need help somewhere along the way, then i’ll reach out for it. for now i want to keep it small, just between the 2 of us. even if it’s sloppy, i think it will make people laugh. i want people to be surprised and be wowed that we made such a short film.
