How to be a nurse
It made me

 "Nursing school was not what I had hoped, but being a nurse is not about nursing school"
How I did it: One year of prereqs, 2 year wait, 2 years of nursing school. The two year program is faster than you would think. It was tough, some of the instructors were very good and some were knowledgeable but did not connect with the students. I worked, but not as hard as I thought I would. Most helpful hint: GET A SUPPORT GROUP! And it doesn't have to be fellow nursing students. My classmates were very competitive and not at all helpful except to their clicky groups. So I joined AGS-Honors Society and got elected to the board. This group has been wonderful and supportive. VOLUNTEER! In this job market, the people who went the extra mile got the best jobs. Hospitals are giving preference to BSN grads over ADN. Volunteer at Red Cross Blood Drives, Volunteer at Planned Parenthood, the hospital, and free clinics. LEARN A 2ND LANGUAGE. If you have summers off, use this time to learn SPANISH. Lessons & tips: Remember why you want to become a nurse. A the end of my 2nd semester I thought I would quit. I had a clinical instructor who played favorites and I was her whipping post. I started volunteering at a free clinic and found that I really did know enough to start helping people. It gave me more confidence and strength.

Giddy! 
How I did it: I studied, and studied, and studied. I also gained 15 pounds from stress but that's another story. I got there early and left late. I kissed up to the teachers. I soaked up all the experiences that I could have. I took advantage of any resources from the school/library. I had bad days where I would just CRY, but you just gotta work through it. Oh, and did I say study? Read how I did it…

Am I ready? I don’t know. I scored 60 and 62 on KAPLAN tests and they want you to be in the 65-70 range and I have less than 3 weeks.
