Well, you could say that with the recent fMRI project I’ve been working on, that I’ve gotten closer to this goal.

But the reason I’m writing today is that several people have cheered this goal recently, and on my “Cheers / Most Recently Received” list, it shows up as

It’s time I added an entry about this.

I’ve been working for over 25 years as a neuroscientist. I can make little nerve cells grow and form connections in a dish; I can grind up brains and separate out all the different chemicals found in them; I can even tell you arcane names for all the parts of things.

What I can’t do is to really understand how someone else’s brain works.

So, à la Being John Malkovich, I’d like to get inside someone’s brain. Anyone’s will do, but a brain of the opposite gender would be a nice plus for this project. 6 years ago
