So many recipients of my thank-you notes have commented to me (or, for family members, to my mother) on my manners and how impressed they were that I took the time to send a hand-written note. But I figure that if they took the time to go out and buy or make something fro me and mail it to me, then they deserve a hand-written note, not an e-mail.

... and I have to tell you, I really prefer emails! Makes it so much simpler and quick to respond back to, and doesn’t use up trees!
I get a lot of care packages because I am deployed to Iraq. Sometimes I don’t feel like I have time to do proepr thank you notes, but when I think of how much trouble people went to in order to buy and ship me a care package, a thank you note is the least I can do.
I bought some cute personalized notecards and return address labels, and in down time, I folded them, added the labels to the envelopes, etc., so it will take less time to write the actual thank you note. I also bought (and later had sent in another care package) some nice gel pens to brighten up the task (and I hope the finished note, also!).
