a bald eagle would be so beautiful. Too bad my picture is not great! The shot was taken just after he soared over the bay near Seldovia, Alaska, and into this tree. I loved watching bald eagles in the wild and hope to someday see another.

I saw three at the Rochester Zoo. It doesn’t count of course but it was my first time seeing them in person and they were really beautiful!

Saw two bald eagles fly over and land in an overhanging tree when rowing on the river one morning. Really delightful :)

In downtown Bellevue, by the Mercer Slough. We have seen eagles several times. Once I saw a bald eagle take the fish out of a Great Blue Heron’s beak, right over my head. Sadly, no camera that day.
Last weekend I drove my daughter and our friends to Land Between the Lakes in Kentucky to do some eagle-watching. The weather was beautiful. We saw 4 or 5 immature bald eagles, and one mature one. Most of them were about 1/4 mile away, but an immature eagle decided to scope out our group from right overhead. Snapped off a few shots – look forward to seeing how they turn out. Not really exciting for the kids, but a cool experience nonetheless

the kokanee have a spawning run in the winter. Today I went on the 5th grade eagle-spotting cruise with my #3 son.
It was incredible. Best bit—when one bird took a fish not 70 feet from the starboard side, and another knocked it from that bird’s talons, circled back and snagged it for himself.
