I have, on several occasions, locked myself in the bathroom to attempt and perfect the art of applying liquid eyeliner (or false eyelases or lip liner or that damned smokey eye look), only to fail miserably. Typically, my daily makeup routine always gives me a boring, plain look, and when I try different products or techniques I look completely heinous.
It’s so much easier to slap on pressed powder and lip balm and call it a day, although far less alluring.
I’m also going to figure out those eyelash curler thingies.

I got a MAC gift card for my birthday, so when I get some free time (hahaha…) I’m going to go to MAC and tell them, “this is what I need to buy today, now tell me how to put it on and look fab.”

I’ve worn makeup a couple of times this month, mostly to Forum. I applied powder and concealer to even out my skin tone, and I played with neutral brown eyeshadow. I also have a couple of cute lip glosses that I like, but I haven’t gone much further than that.

I got makeup for Christmas. Some really nice stuff, too. (One of my cousin’s girlfriends works at Sephora.)
Of course, I have no idea how to wear any of it. I bought some makeup books at Half Price, so I guess all I have to do is practice.

Larisa72 is stressing about a sick child
Hubby jokes that even though I was born in the south, I’m not the typical Southern girl – you know the stereotype – never go out of the house unless fully made up. The biggest drawback to makeup for me is that every time I’ve worn it, it seems WAY too time consuming for a SAHM of 2 children that rarely give me 10 minutes to myself.
A friend of mine from my daughter’s preschool (her son is a year ahead of my daughter) ALWAYS shows up in full makeup and dressed nicely – makes me feel like a shlub in my yoga pants and tshirts with a pony tail and no makeup. So….Monday I hung out with her and she did a total makeover on me. The only stipulations I gave her were that it: a-had to take 5 minutes or less, b-look natural, c-it couldn’t involve too many steps or products.
Should probably mention that she is a Mary Kay consultant. The whole cleaning, moisturizing, eye, lip, concealer, etc. etc. took longer than actually doing the makeup. WHen we were done, the makeup looked great!! Natural looking, but with just a little accent on my eyes (bright blue, that have a habit of changing color based on the clothes I wear or the eyeshadow I use).
SO, now I have the whole morning and evening routine figured out…swapped some of the items in the sets that MK sells for ones that I will actually use, and got the custom compact, but without blush because I have naturally rosy cheeks, and with a medium coverage foundation, you can see my cheek color just fine. WOohoo!!>.tonight I will start the entire routine..cleanser, moisturizer, eye cream, and the cellulite cream….figured that will help in addition to the exercising that I’m doing.
Hubby said he had no problem with me getting makeup as long as I actually wore it instead of just stashing it in the cabinet…lol
