One thing the price book did for me is help me to realize that I can observe prices so I know where to buy the cheapest. But I buy so little food for just me that the results of this penny pinching exercise do not balance out the time it takes me to record the prices, etc. On things I buy often, I keep an eye out and have kind of a mental price book. But for the other things, I’m letting it go. I’ll hang on to it for a while in case the urge hits me again, since it’s all set up. I breath a sigh of relief.

and take it with to the store. I just did an hour of updating and still have receipts left. That just makes it a drag. But if I had it at the store, I think it would help more. Also to remind me that I believe I need to be buying organic but that it does cost more, and hopefully I will then waste less and even find the bargains among the organics. I also need to take it with and make some notes in the store rather than just only stuff I actually buy. It is really interesting to see the difference in what you’ll pay from one store to the next, and who is the cheapest on what.

I’m wondering if this goal might become another entry under “practice discardia.” It’s been interesting and I’ve been able to see a few patterns of where I should buy some of my most commonly purchased items, but since I’m just one little person (no family that I buy for), I’m not sure the savings is worth the time it takes to enter the stuff in the book. BUT, I also wonder if over time it will become more worth it and it will certainly be less work after I get several entries in there.

but don’t know how much I’ll use it. It was interesting to do the initial inputting. I’ll have to stick with it and see if it helps. I want to see if my hypotheses about where is cheaper really are true.

out of having a goal to try shopping at the co-op. Now I realize some things are only available there and not at my regular grocery store, and that I’m fine buying others at the regular store v. the co-op. So I want to start a price book. But I need a small three-ring binder so I can alphabetize as I add, because I don’t want to put all that work into a format that doesn’t work. Secondly, I need to start saving my sales slips from my shopping trips (I usually shred immediately) to write down the prices at home. So I guess I won’t start this today – which is good! I don’t need anything else to work on today!
