Learn about American History

I have forgotten a lot about American History, probably because it was one of the classes I doodled through (I didn’t like my instructor). What I did learn about American History was gotten from interesting documentaries (I am in love with the History Channel) or from my childhood, which wasn’t a very good source, considering they give you the sheltered “Children’s Version” of history, which is heavily censored—awful things are left out, so you get a skewed view.

So I would like to learn it again the right way. I checked out a history textbook from the library and completed the first unit. I’m also using this site ( http://www.ucopenaccess.org/course/view.php?id=12 ) to supplement it. Love that website. It’s great if anyone wants a history review.

Another good website is ( http://www.historycentral.com/ ) but I am saving that one for later.

I also plan on renting documentaries from time to time from Netflix. I already have one on Conquistadors in my queue, and am following up with one on Jamestown.

I hope to be finished with this goal in six weeks. :)

I forgot all I learned about American history in my AP US Hist class in High School and I know that to succeed in my other goals I need to relearn my stuff. I don’t have a date by which I intend on completing this but I definitely want to have it done by the start of Spring Semester next year.

I’ve completed American History class in school. The reason why I marked this goal ‘not worth it’ is not because I think you shouldn’t learn more about the country you live in (presuming you live in America) but because I’m a bit mad that in school, I haven’t learned more about /other/ countries. The world doesn’t revolve around America, and I’d like to be taught some geography in school already! I’ve been learning American History in school /all/ my life. Let’s learn about the world now

It should help that I’m taking American History this year in school, but I’ll do some studying on my own time.
