London is  — 3 days ago

expensive!!! And oh so tempting for potential shopaholics like myself.
Compiling a list of activities that are free, or atleast at minimal cost, to ensure that I have fun while keeping my spending at a minimum

New trick  — 6 months ago

    Worth doing!

I’ve got a new trick. Every time I think of making an unnecessary purchase or think about eating out, I transfer the money I would’ve spent into my savings instead.

Took it Back!  — 8 months ago

    Worth doing!

I was Christmas shopping on Wednesday and wound up walking out of New York and Company with $100 worth of stuff for myself, something I rarely ever do.

I felt guilty, knowing I didn’t NEED these items and took it all back yesterday. I feel much better.

Man, I have such a hard time treating myself.

Granny Moneybags - NOT!  — 1 year ago

Since my grand daughter has been born, I have been spending money like water and not spoiling the child either. Mostly its because I have been shunting its parents up and down the bypass to the Special Care Baby Unit at all given times of the day.

Much as I want to spoil her crazy when everything calms down, I am fast becoming flat broke. Time to rein in alas

because this constitutes so much more than overspending.
Yesterday I notice some mystery charges on my bill, only to discover that my bank charged me a significant amount to replace my cards, without informing me of said charges.
I am absolutely livid, and more than a little worried to discover that these charges have a major impact on my finances for the next month, and I have no buffer funds in place.
This calls for a serious overhaul.
I’m incurring too much in bank charges and interest payments and have too little in savings and just general emergency funds
    This has got to stop.

grappling with this one right now  — 1 year ago

I know that I need to stick to my budget, and start putting aside money for savings.
But why am I not sticking to it?
Between lending money to friends in need (who seem never to repay), and just keeping up with the day to day expenses, my budget keeps on getting blown to bits.
    sigh
I think I just have to fully embrace the austerity plan and start saying no more often.
Also need to bear in mind that some of my indulgences have to be cut. If we’re buying those new tops for gym which are desperately needed (and on sale), then it means no wonderfully scrumptious treats from the gourmet snackery:(
Atleast, not unti I get my finances fully on the road to recovery.
