I was only there to help make up the numbers. (Honest). The police had a suspect. (Truly). They only needed other guys to help make a line up. (I’m innocent, I’m telling ya).
Seriously. It was many year ago. I was still young enough to attend high school, it it must have been mid-afternoon on a weekend (or perhaps school vacation) cause we weren’t at school.
A police car pulls and asked if myself and two friends would help with the line up in about 15 minutes. The car continued to cruise the block – looking for other possible candidates our age.
The three of us then debated it for a few minutes. Was it a trick? Might they smell beer on our breath if we went? (Something we were too young to have at that stage).
Despite the doubts we went along. Curiosity got the better of us in the end. It took about 45 minutes. And we did feel better for having helped.
The boys in blue do so much for us. It was the least we could do to help in return. (Although we were too young to realise that at the time).
