Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Never thought the pupil could get so big, lol. But he saids I’m ok and my eyes havn’t changed that much. Pick up my new glasses soon. Yay! 4 years ago

indigo_chkNeed New Glasses

It has been 3 years since my last eye exam, and the glasses I have now are still in good shape but Im sick to death of them D<! so yes next friday i want to go in for an eye exam,....even though its going to cost A LOT T_T… 6 years ago

nosebleedJust got em.

And I can see perfectly through them… should take some pics with them on, if I can. One thing about them is they seem rather fragile. I’ll be ordering a backup pair soon. 7 years ago

nosebleedSo it turns out...

my glasses won’t be arriving until March.

Why?

Friggin’ Chinese new year. They’re being manufactured in China, so I have to wait until they’re done celebrating (They get like 10 days off for this event!).

Well, I guess it’s better to pay $36 and wait 3 weeks than $300 and have them in an hour. 7 years ago

nosebleedOrdered the glasses

A few days ago…

Frame+Lenses (The frames are quite sexy too)
Anti-reflective coating
Tinting
clip-on sunglasses
carrying case
cleaning cloth

Only $36 (Incl. shipping)
Not bad, huh? Now if only they’d arrive in good shape and a timely fashion. 7 years ago

leahsomeday soon i'll see what i'm typing!

I thought about trying in glasses at the store the other day, that’s getting closer. Right? 7 years ago

nosebleedIdiots

Didn’t give me my pupillary distance, and that is actually something REQUIRED by Federal Law to be on my prescription.

So anyway, I’m either going to have to measure it myself, or see an optometrist to do it, and if I do, I won’t be paying a dime, since it should be part of my prescription. 7 years ago

maybe im better off just using my third eye! 7 years ago

nosebleedExam went pretty good.

The doctor said that it was a rare case that someone with a prescription as strong as mine would see 20/20 with glasses. And my eyes are also “healthy” :) At least he didn’t start calling them “pretty”, which would have creeped me out, a little. 7 years ago

I have an appointment at 5:15 today 7 years ago

KatherineMLK Day

I had the day off and made an appointment. Good thing too as I hadn’t had my vision checked since 2003 and needed a new prescription! I can’t wait to get my new glasses – they are so awesome. I should have them by the end of this week. 7 years ago

nosebleedNo dice

Not today, didn’t get the chance to… maybe tomorrow (yeah, right) or next weekend… 7 years ago

nosebleedToday

Might be the day to do this… if I have time and know when to set up the appointment. 7 years ago

nosebleedI need to do this

I’ll have to get an eye exam at the local place, but I’m not buying glasses there. TOO EXPENSIVE! I found Zenni Optical online that sells glasses CHEAP. Has anyone tried it? I’ve read some reviews at ePinions and they’re mostly positive, so I’ll probably order a cheap pair to see how it works, and if it does I’ll order a much more stylish pair (with tinting and other extras too, because it’s so cheap) and use the cheap one as backup. 7 years ago

calachiI can see!

it’ll be wonderful to be able to go to the movies, or a lecture, and actually see something (without having to sit in the first row)! 8 years ago

calachihalfway there

had my eye-exam today, expensive, but a relief. will get my ‘new’ glasses sometime next week I think. 8 years ago

fashtookahope it last

imsaarGot my exam and glasses from different places

Finally got an eye exam from the nearest to home on a Saturday appointment.

They did not have a good collection of frames so got that from a place close to work (down the stairs).

I am glad I finally did it but I think I went a little over the top spending $230 out of my pocket on the frame and lenses. But the money would have gone away in my FSA if not spent so all is well. 8 years ago

xstarsi can seeee :)

i do love my new glasses! i was so angry when i went to get my glasses but wouldn’t accept, since my exam was 3 years out of date…so i went back to get an eye exam and purchased new glasses the same day! i now want to get new glasses frames whenever i feel the need for a change, because to me, it is an integral part of how i express myself! (i currently have glasses that look intelligent, but also a bit fun!) :) 8 years ago

Petrpresbyopia…old age eyes here too

My last ones lasted 4 years! I hope the new pair that I pick up on 10 Aug will hold up as well. 9 years ago

Jill MYep - got my specs checked...

and had presbyopia…old age eyes….got some reading glasses – they’re kinda cute. If I had to wear them full-time, I might get contacts or Lasik, which I know my dh wants to do. This is not as bad as some check-ups (like the mammogram I have to get soon) can be…so it’s done! 9 years ago
