I’m sure it will be great.

I’m going to Temple University in the fall. I’ll be an hour away from my family, which scares the hell out of me. My friends are scattering all over the country, and I don’t know if i’ll see most of them again. Still, there’s a part of me that’s looking forward to it. I think I made the right decision in going away. Maybe these changes, this new freedom, which help me become the person I always wanted to be.
1) Everyone is “the new kid”, so make others feel relaxed and welcome and you’ll find you have more friends than you know what to do with.
2) Act sure of yourself (even if you’re not really feeling that way) and people will be attracted to that. Almost everyone is in a strange new place and they are all looking for some sense of stability
3) Smile a lot :-)
im going to college this year so i need tips for what to do when i first get there
I’m not a partier and I tend to be rather shy, but I had a great time in college.
I went to San Francisco State and they had a great theater department, so I was able to see one or two new plays every week. I planned my class schedule to keep the performance times open.
I lived in the dorms and slowly got to know the people who lived around me. The ones I enjoyed were folks I started to hang out with and we had some great adventures. I also took advantage of the games nights and other activities the dorms organized. They had an improv group that played weekly and I eventually ended up doing the lights for the improv group.
I live near a college now and make sure I get to the art exhibits they have on a weekly basis. I wasn’t interested in art as a college student, but if I had been that would have been another great way to have fun.
First step. Leave your dorm room and go out! Anywhere! All the time!
Second step. Not needed but it helps. Drink.
College is already the greatest part of my life thus far, and I am only a little over a month in. Find a school with a social atmosphere in which you feel comfortable, and it should be the best time of your life. :]
I’m nervous about living in a place with a whole bunch of people my age that have clashing personalities. Will it be chaos? I hope it’s going to be awesome like everyone says it’s suppose to be.
yakuza who has missed me?
I had a great time in college. I had to fight to graduate though.
