Technically, I’ve done this before. Twice. I got my first car in 2004 just because I could. I was having a lot of problems with it, plus it was used, so in August 2008 I bought a brand new Pontiac. Today, someone rear ended me, and I’m pretty sure they didn’t bother to break before they hit me, so my front end is pretty beat up (from being propelled into the car in front of me) and it looks like the trunk of my car ate itself, so I’m pretty prepared to hear from my insurance company that it’s totaled. Luckily it’s a 2009 so I should be able to get a decent amount of money, a lot of which will go to the loan I had out on it. I want to use only the remainder to get another car, since I want to use my savings for a house, and I can’t really save any extra since I’ve been putting most of the money I make into my Stafford loans. 2009 has kicked my ass.

the car is sitting in my driveway, but its not mine until the paperwork comes in and can be processed properly. and im not going to claim it as fully mine until i have paid my mom for the money she fronted me for it. so… $3500
i work… i guess about 31 hours a week now, that ive got fridays off. hate to lose the hours, but was already beginning to burn out.

so im still making about 400 a check, even with the hour loss.

My old yucky car just had to undergo $1200 in repairs…SUCH a nightmare…especially since it is a 13 year old car! So, now that we have a little cash coming in, we are beginning to talk about getting my car! As long as it gets me from A to B, I will be SUPER happy!
I have got my eye on this one zippy little thing, but these dreadful Boston winters have deterred me from going out and buying it.
But this week, I will man up and get it! :)
So ive decided on a truck. There are so many times my little Neon just wont do the job (moving, bringing home a christmas tree, etc) so I think a truck would be really practical. I want something in the age range of 1998-2004, I think that should be decent looking, dependable, and not too expensive. Im going to try & save money and maybe shop around at some used dealerships to get one financed.
