Saw Matisyahu with 311, awesome!
How I did it: I went to lollapalooza a few years ago to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers play. I figured I would check out Matisyahu as well. It was way worth it. It is interesting that he identifies his music with a religion but his lyrics are more spiritual and universal.
Resources: Lollapalooza tickets!
I saw him at lollapalooza this summer in chicago. he’s great. really entertaining to watch too!! he gets really into his music.
On Dec. 29th, 2005, I saw Matisyahu live in concert at St. Andrew’s in Detroit. I couldn’t believe I was so close to him. It was wonderfully stimulating, pleasing, and mindblowing.
The guy who opened for Matisyahu (something Pigeon) was okay, but nothing compared to Matis.
I also met a guy…but we’ll see where that goes…:)
(I also got to tell him my message; it was another goal of mine.)
the show in Lawrence was amazing. Matis is amazing. i don’t have enough words to describe it. the energy in the room, especially for King Without A Crown (my fave song) was incredible. I think that was the pinnacle for me. That and when he was beat boxing. plus i loved when he was doing the slow meditative hebrew song, i can’t remember what it is called though, but sometimes i thought he didn’t even know he had an audience, it was obviously very spiritual for him. i didn’t feel then it as much as i felt King Without A Crown but it was obvious to the audience. awesome show. totally worth it.
i am so excited for this concert. his lyrics inspire me greatly. I wish i could meet him and tell him so.
What’s this feeling?
My love will rip a hole in the ceiling
Givin’ myself to you from the essence of my being
Sing to my G-d all these songs of love and healing
Want Moshiach now so it’s time we start revealing
You’re all that I have and you’re all that I need
Each and every day I pray to get to know you please
I want to be close to you, yes I’m so hungry
You’re like water for my soul when it gets thirsty
Without you there’s no me
You’re the air that I breathe
Sometimes the world is dark and I just can’t see
With these, demons surround all around to bring me down to negativity
But I believe, yes I believe, I said I believe
I’ll stand on my own two feet
Won’t be brought down on one knee
Fight with all of my might and get these demons to flee
Hashem’s rays fire blaze burn bright and I believe
Out of darkness comes light, twilight unto the heights
Crown Heights burnin’ up all through till midnight
Said, thank you to my G-d, now I finally got it right
And I’ll fight with all of my heart, and all a’ my soul, and all a’ my might
