I think I am going to build a couch by welding together a frame out of carbon steel tubing that I bend with a tube bender. I will build the cushions out of foam (ebay is a good source), found some good sources for sofa springs online too.
Fitting it all will be some work, but it should be pretty do-able.

I am mostly going with the idea of maqking it out of lumber—and then wrapping that with cotton batting or foam padding of some kind before covering it with fabric and making cushions…....Are there other ideas for basic building materials that I might use instead? Wood always seems so bulky.
I just moved and hardly have any furniture. I want to build a couch for my living room. It could be a fluffy cloud-like sofa, or it could be a rich, ornate sofa with beads.
