Think I have pretty much achieved this goal, I need to make sure that I stay on top of things and do a declutter every six months or so just to keep on top of things.

How I did it: It involves some level of brutality - i've had to stop being sentimental about material things, and accept that you can't hold onto everything forever. Only keeping the clothes that I actually wear and can fit into, or the things that I genuinely need or use frequently has made my room a much more inhabitable space.I guess it's an ongoing thing, really. Day 2 of tidying the box room. That’s right day TWO of the BOX room. How, HOW, did I manage to fit so much stuff in here. Yeah, I know get off the internet and tidy… but it’s soooo BORING.

I just bought a bookcase. It was just a cheap thing from wal-mart, but it’s cleared off bunched of book lying around my desk. I’m not sure it really classifies as “decluttering,” but I did make my room feel much cleaner and more organized. I was having issues finding places to put my school books. This is perfect because I have a place to put them and I won’t loose them and they won’t get torn up.
I have a lot of books. There are a few books that I don’t think I’ll be reading again so I think I will sell them or give them away or something.
I feel better about my bedroom than I ever have.
My entire life of living with my parents, I have had a messy room (except for when I was very little). I will be moving out in a couple years, when I finish college. Thinking about the eternal mess in my room and the number of presents I have gotten every year for Christmas, Easter, and so on, and I feel like in a way I am spoiled. I feel like I have been given way too much. There are too many holidays where people are expected to give gifts bought from a store. CONSUMERISM!
(I’m not an economist, I have no clue how the economy works as far as consumerism goes)
I am at some fault because over the years I have held on to things because I felt like I need them, would hurt the feelings of the people who gave them as gifts. I had a realization a while back that when I am given a gift, it belongs to me, not the person who gave it to me, so I am free to do what I want with it. :)
Myself, I like to give gifts that I personally have made or worked on. This option is probably not right for EVERYONE, and there may be some things that you just can’t make yourself. But I think that if you have made something yourself then you are showing that you actually care and have put effort into the gift.
I no longer feel happy because I buy something. I don’t feel like I need something because I see it on tv. In fact the idea seems silly.
A friend of mine recently brought up something that she does.
With books for example, when she buys one, she gets rid of one (or two). She never has clutter. I think this is something I may start practicing. I have big clothing problem. I donated a bunch of clothes that I would never wear but I still have more. I would gladly give up some of my clothes to get one skirt or something that I would actually wear.
Wow! This is a very long post. :P
Celtic_Christian is trying to avoid going crazy and stay on track
Each week I’ve been filling an extra office sized trashcan bag of clutter to throw out. Making visible progress but there is also a lot to go, but it is good to see that there is an end in sight even if it will be weeks if not months away.
okay,finished my closet,
to really get this room cleaned i need a bed frame!
now that im done with closet, next is bathroom!then the actual room!
oh and got rid of some old magazines…..
I thought with all the sorting and chucking that came from moving house my room would be almost spartan by now but no, no it isn’t. sigh The curse of the smaller room. If I had stayed put then it would be alllll sorted but now due a drastic reduction in storage I still have a way to go. If it’s not done soon then I’m just gonna have to resort to a couple of bin liners!
Conniggetsmother is working her lists
now I need to keep up with it for my OWN sake! My room is really pretty and lovely to spend time in, when it’s not a wreck.
