waffler is working on my Goal #2: "Finish my PhD"
Replacing my “Have really nice skin” goal with this “have good skin” one because more people seem to be on this goal.
How I did it: I put moisturizer on in the morning and night. I wash my face with just water, not soap (but I do a facial scrub maybe once a week or two). However I don't know that this actually does anything....
Because really, I think the only thing that helps is, getting plenty of sleep on a regular basis. That's really the only thing. If I sleep a lot (like 9 hours or more a day) my skin is nice, regardless of whether I wash my face or put on moisturizer or anything. If I sleep little (6 hours or less) my skin is crappy pretty much no matter what I do with it.
Also, pulling my hair back when I sleep I think may be helping. I think my hair, if I don't wash it before bed, has germs and stuff on it, and it gets all in my face and I wake up with zits. So I braid my hair before bed. Supposedly this is bad for your hair, but you can't have your cake and eat it too I guess. Also, I avoid putting my face on the pillow, I kind of prop it up on my arm, or sleep on my back.
Lessons & tips: 1) Get 9 hours of sleep or more (or however much you need).
2) Keep your hair out of your face.
3) Keep your face out of your pillow when you sleep, if you can. It might also help if you change the pillowcase very often.
4) Washing your face WITHOUT soap, just plain water, should be sufficient, too much soap may be bad for your skin.
Resources: I used Clinique Dramatically Different moisturizing lotion at night, and Olay All-Day Moisturizer (with SPF) during the day. I don't use face soap, except occasionally I will use St. Ives Apricot Scrub, but it's more out of habit than anything else. Please don't use face scrubs with plastic beads though, it goes down the drain into the ocean and is bad for the environment. Apricot Scrub is better because they use natural ground up stuff for the scrubbing beads.

justkristen is sitting in the minor key
I’ve been trying…
I try to remember to wash my face every day, and put on my retinol wrinkle cream. I feel so cool and grown up.. I basically use it as an spf containing moisturizer, because I don’t actually have wrinkles.
here’s my good-skin arsenal:
face wash (for oily skin)
face masks (hoo yeah!)
another face wash that I bought completely on a whim at Stop & Shop a few days ago, St. Ives Elements Microderm-Abrasion, which “gently exfoliates to deep clean and smooth away the appearance of fine lines and uneven skin texture.”
you know what, my face is already starting to feel softer! although it’s kind of oily right now. I didn’t wash it.. or bathe.. :O!!!! lol.
