Honestly, I don’t know much about this website yet. But sharing Ideas with people around the world could improve my skills especially in writing. This is a very good website that can help lots of people.

Backburner-ing the Goal 19 months ago

Not giving up; just backburnering for now – April 14th 2008

I've had several significant disappointments. But I'm writing more than last year. 3 years ago

I am going to miss trying out for the Honickman.

I’ll have to regroup after I go to Illinois to look for work.

I write articles for a small town paper once a month, as well as blogs on My Space and an advice column on my website. I find 43 things to be a very good writing exersise as well- and a good source of reading material.

This is really 3 years ago

the same thing as “finish my website”. At least for me.

Exactly! 3 years ago

Katie, who hath completed this (for me) challenging goal, has an entry i just have to quote & post here, as it says it all about writing—and i can tell she’s a working writer, to write something so insightful & right on…

If you want to write, just write. If you want to write consistently, set aside a good time of the day to write for a small amount of time, say 10 minutes. Don’t put boundaries on yourself. Write anything and don’t self-edit. Weed through it later. Just keep the ideas flowing. I keep a small red journal with me for when sudden inspiration strikes—song lyrics, thoughts, journal entries, anything. It’s a mess, but it’s just for me! I keep separate journals for “finished” pieces of writing, like poems, etc….and then I have something pretty to look at. A finished product, if you will.

A blog is a great place to start for getting your ideas “out there”. Choose a good blogging community where you’re likely to get comments and feedback—that’s the best part of blogging, I find. Ask as many people as possible to critique your writing, and then start sending it out to whoever will publish. Think broadly.

The Specifics: 3 years ago

i need to define this better, but as i do, i keep seeing various entries & goals that are a part of that same aspiration. So i decided to keep a list of those inspirations as i come accross them here:

  • Write on a daily basis
  • write everything down, & do not cross out anything
  • write more. Stories. Articles. Anything. Write more.
  • spend more time writing about the things I think about
  • Stay faithful to the pen and ink.
  • stick to a writing schedule
  • make a journal of quotes and stories that inspire, and art and clippings that i love
  • get to writing more, for my own brains pleasure
  • create inner revolutions with my writing
  • Look into possibilities of doing some freelance writing
  • Write for ten minutes every morning
  • get paid to travel the world and write about it
  • write poems based on the lies I told as a kid
  • write down childhood memories as they come to mind
  • Find my written voice
  • write a letter to my future self
  • Scribbled secret notebooks, and wild typewritten pages, for my own joy
  • “The act of writing is the act of discovering what you believe.”
    - David Hare
  • Explore the why, how, what of my urge to write, then use these ideas to write short creative essays & stories

Well, it’s a small step, but the number of people I meet means increased readership for my blog – not that that’s why I do it. At this point, though, the blog is the natural venue for such discussions, especially since I’m not sure what topic I’d like to explore in greater depth for Boxes and Arrows.

To do a BLOG at the age of 53! 4 years ago

I started to learn using computer at the age of 48, that was 5 years ago,and bcoz I started to use computer, I have to do something with it, that is the reason why I started to write essays.

At the beginning of this year, I have heard a lot of young people talking about BLOGGING, but I did not know what it is. I asked around and I was introduced to the MSN Spaces.

And guess what??? I have done up my own BLOG, without the help of my children. I’ve done it!!!

I have written 3 books and cut a CD ! 4 years ago

In the past 5 years, I have written more than 200 articles and sent them to the local newpaper, they were all published and eventually, I compiled them into 3 books. I wrote in Chinese, my books are titled ‘A Fun Tour of Europe’, ‘The Fun Life of a Tourist Guide’ and ‘The Fun Life at Chaitiamma’.

One of my dreams is to cut a CD with folksongs from my motherland, Malaysia. I did it last year with a group of friends, we sang folksongs from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore,
Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, China, Thailand and songs from Europe. We had a whale of a time! Its worth every moment of it!
