I just bought 6 chairs on Craigslist that have alot of potential but a weekend full of work! They need to be repainted and reupholstered! But I see the potential and for less than $200 I can have 6 fantastic chairs – what a bargain!

We have had these 2 benches and 4 chairs for over 15 years now. My wife got them from a Ponderosa restuarant when they were doing a renovation. We couldn’t believe they were just throwing them out. The Seat cushions are torn on most of them, but they are still in solid shape. We picked out a new canvas and recovered them with it.
...the fabric for the chairs today. I can start the recovering the seat part and the sew the welting once I buy it, but need to refinish the chairs before I attach the fabric to the front and back of the chairs.
I am still really happy with my fabric selection. Unfortunately, I don’t have time to w*rk on this project over the weekend.
...today and love it! It’s the perfect sized design for the chairs and looks really good with the color of my furniture. I am one step closer to getting the chairs finished! Hopefully the kitchen project will be completed this weekend and I can start w*rking on the chairs very soon. I need to shop for double welt cording and see how difficult it is to sew with a regular sewing machine – so far the welting seems the most challenging part of the project.
...that I liked last week is on sale 50% off this weekend. I decided that I will purchase it and without searching for fabric elsewhere. After looking at the sample piece for several days, I realized that I like it enough that I would only be comparing all other fabrics to it.
The finish on some the chairs looks a little worn, so my next step is to refinish the rattan before reupholstering the chairs. I would be thrilled to have the chairs put back together sometime this year. It would be embarrassing to mention how many years the chairs have been without fabric. Will need to decide if I will reupholster the chairs myself or have them done professionally.
...fabric for my chairs a couple years ago. It was a tropical print from a fabric store in Hawaii. When I attempted to place an order, there wasn’t enough yardage available for my project. Although that store offered many other tropical prints, I wasn’t able to find the right color and design combination.
Earlier this week, I started to search for fabric again. I brought home 6 samples and like 2 of them. One is a small print that would look nice with our dishes and countertop and the second one has a lot more color without looking too busy.
Sometime in the next few weeks, I will go to a few larger fabric stores in Downtown Los Angeles to see what else is available before making a decision.
