ride a tandem bicycle

The person up front (steering) needs to have fairly strong arms. Mine felt like jelly after a day. It is also worth saying that tandems don’t corner as easily as bikes.

It didn’t occur to me that I ever wanted to do this until about 20 seconds ago when I found a local bicycle shop that rents them. I can already tell that this goal will consume my life until I accomplish it.

Some of the best experiences in my life were from ideas that seemingly came out of nowhere and were accomplished within days of it occurring to me. This is gonna be one of those. I can feel it.

i think that this could be very romantic, even though my husband normally wrecks more than he rides… kind of a scary thought, maybe this is not such a good idea??? but how will i know unless i try

Everyone smiles at you when you’re riding a tandem. Even when your lazy and accident-prone butt is on the back seat…

Here’s the bike. I considered taking a picture while in mid-motion, but that surely would’ve been the end of me. Kellianne and I took the bike from Montlake, swerved our way toward the Burke Gilman, found out stride near the Wall of Death, and were pros by the time we got to Gas Works Park. We found that everyone thinks you’re awesome when you’re on a tandem bike. Or maybe they were just waiting for us to crash, haha. Sorry to disappoint, suckers!

...maybe with a blind person, or with someone who cannot ride a two wheels vehicle.
