How to get over fear of roller coasters
How I did it: I just looked at my sister, and i knew she was partially scared too. Going down really fast was easy when you held your breath. I thought of overcoming my fear, and i did. i held good thoughts, positive, in my head.
Lessons & tips: Hold your breath on down falls.

I would consider myself done with this goal, because I no longer have a fearful mindset with regards to coasters. My remaining fears seem common, normal and rational now, instead of unusually strong.
When can I say I’ve accomplished this? I will willingly ride any coaster I encounter – in fact, I insist on it. The only fear I experience is purely “good” – the kind that makes the ride exciting. However, I still feel deeply apprehensive of coasters that are more intense than ones I’ve already been on—for example, much taller, much faster, much steeper, or an innovation I haven’t experienced yet. For example, X2, Top Thrill Dragster, and pretty much any hypercoaster or gigacoaster sound downright frightening to me. I’m not sure how I will feel when I actually get a chance to ride these coasters.
Also, I know from experience I’m still afraid of the lift hill and first drop on inverted coasters. The only one I’ve ridden is Kong, and I never got used to the feeling. I always chickened out near the top of the lift and grabbed the handles in fear. Unfortunately it’s physically hard to let go later on in the ride. I’ll definitely need to overcome this.
i have never had the desire to ride a roller coaster untill just recently. Although i have always had a fear of them never acutally tried to ride one. my best friend and i went to cedar point in ohio we were in a line to ride a roller coaster that i really wanted to ride with her the entire time we were in line she kept assureing me i would be ok. well by the time we got up to the point of getting on i burst into tears was shakeing and hyperventalating. the reason i want to ride a roller coaster is because i have never been on to have alot of fun so to me rideing a roller coaster is like setting myself free. i am 15 years old and in my mind it is ridiculous that i have had this fear of ridding a roller coaster and that it takes up my life especially when i want to hang out with my friends at a theme park and i am always the one left behind. if anyone has any advice for me that would be very helpful thank you.
SHAIN is trying to get back into 43 things
It was Disney who did it for me. I was totally terrified of coasters until we went to Disneyland when I was ten. I rode the coasters there and was not afraid be cause it was Disneyland and at ten I figured if it was safe enough to be there it must be ok.
This is something I reallyy have to do. Honestly falling from a high altitude is my biggest fear and spiders of course. But anyways, I really want to just get rid of this fear so I can enjoy something that is supposidly so much funnn!!
I do all sorts of dangerous things. I think roller coasters are a control issue. I have no control over where I am going and if something goes wrong I am completely at the mercy of fate. On a motorcycle or in a car speeding down some back road waaayy to fast I have my skills and ablilities to rely on to keep me safe. I know deep down that most of the other stuff I do is 100 times more dangerous than a well maintained roller coaster. I need to overcome that issue.
