I was researching mystic places in England and I became enchanted with the Mermaid Chair in Zenner. My class went to St. Ives on a week long field trip and I took off on my own one day and went to the little church where the chair was in Zenner. I was the only one there and I could look at it as long as I wanted…(so different from sites in the US). I then went to the Tavern that used to be D.H. Larwence’s house and had the best fish pie I ever ate. It was served to me by the crabbiest woman I have ever met. The resturant was filled with cats and one sat across my table and watched me eat, so I sketched him. On the walk home (along the beach cliffs) I got caught in a small hail storm. It was one of the best days of my life and I was alone.
I was 14 at the time but even my teenage brain comprehended something of the sacredness of the site. I even took back a celtic cross pendant in memorium.

...Joseph of Arimathea, cup of christ turning the waters red, burial site of King Authur and the pre-Christian, Celtic Shrine for thousands of years…
Imagine the sacredness of this site!
