I’m going to mark this as done, because I made a toy my cat absolutely adores and it is so easy for me to just pick it up as I’m passing through the living room and play with her for awhile. Before there was no such toy in our house, so we would have to throw a ball around (you can imagine how much energy that would require of me. Sometimes she wouldn’t be interested in chasing it so I would have to walk back and forth for no reason, hence why I didn’t play with her too often. She still played a lot at night hitting her ball around and running around the house, pouncing on things, but this goal was here to remind me to play with her!

Played with her again today, she loved it. It brings me such joy to see her being so playful and looking so excited. I’m glad I realized that we never played with her because now she actually plays with us.

This has been going so well :) I started playing with my cat and made this toy out of a strand of wool and an elastic band on the end. Now my whole family plays with her with it too!
She loves playing with it, I am so happy about that because for a long time we didn’t really play with her much.

I feel bad...
I love my kitty Princess so much and she’s getting a little older. About in her ‘teen’ years and I haven’t played with her for like longer than 5 minutes since like 2 years ago. But I am going to get her favorite toy and play with her tomarrow.

So I went out and bought my cat some new toys with feathers on the ends and some balls and things, and wouldn’t you know it she wanted to play with the box more than me! its ridiculous!

...since I’ve been talking about him for 2 weeks, it’s time he got face-time.
The last 2 weeks, focusing on play-time with him have been great and I know I’m going to continue. Especially because he will NOT let me stop!
A job well done!

we have a new nightly ritual. Before I go to sleep, I sit on my bed with some knotted up shoelaces. I fling them back and forth, over the sides of the bed.
He turns into a little hunter – hiding under the night stand then POUNCE! As the laces hang over one side of the bed, he’ll crouch down then leap up onto the bed to ATTACK…then he runs off the other side of the bed and waits for me to do the same on that side. He’s turned into a very demanding feline! LOL!
After awhile, he’ll jump on the bed and stare at me – my clue to keep the laces on the bed (he’s getting tired now) but to keep them moving: up in the air, swinging like a pendulum, dragging around the covers. The eyes grow large, pupils dialated, then ATTACK! Another round begins!
Eventually, he walks over to give me a “head-butt” (his version of I love you, mommy) then he curls up on the bed for his nightly grooming.
This goal is again showing me how much I love my cat and how easy it is to make us both happy.
He runs around like a kitten again, even though he’s 15. How old is that in cat-years anyway?

even though he woke me at 7am on a Sunday morning! I have GOT to teach him how to tell time – LOL!
While I had my coffee this morning, he actually let me read the paper, rather than sit in the middle of it. (You cat-owners know what I’m talking about).
While I cleaned a closet, he sat on the desk watching instead of climbing in everything.
While I cleaned the terrace doors, he sat on the inside and watched me (to make sure I did it right?).
Even now, rather than sitting in front of the monitor, he’s laying on the top of the file cabinet, watching me.
I know that he’s giving me time to do “people stuff” as long as I share my time with him to do “cat stuff”.
A pretty good deal for both of us! I love my furry-baby and he loves me.

...like 3 o’clock this morning!
Running around the house, jumping on the bed and using me as a springboard to jump onto the armoire didn’t endear him to me, for sure. But then I got up, picked him up and heard that purring – and I melted.
He just wanted to play. And what’s wrong with that? I sat on the bed, pet him, rubbed his belly then he stretched and wandered to his little bed in the corner and went to sleep.
Oh, to have a cat’s life….

When I woke up, he was curled up next to me. He gave me a look like “sleep as long as you want, I do”. Later, I gently brushed him. I haven’t done that for awhile. He purrs and puts his chin out for me to brush there too. A nice treat for both of us – it IS shedding season!
