learn to draw and paint

I want to express myself on paper and canvas

Art facinates me. I want to make my own art. And I’ve only mastered stick people.

I am pretty good on my own but I would like to get some training and get better.

This one is tough. I’ve wanted to learn how to draw and paint since I can remember. I can ‘sortof’ draw and paint, but I’m not even close to good. I’m better at copying other drawing, especially cartoons, but what good is that? What I would truly love is to be able to illustrate all of the children’s stories I’ve written. I think I’d stand a much better chance of getting a publisher if I had completed works to show off. I just want to learn how to draw the images I have in my mind when I write the stories. I got a book about learning to draw and I can say that I saw a big improvement when I followed the lessons, but I reached a point where I got stuck and couldn’t do the lesson..and I gave up. So, it’s back to the drawing board for me. Ha!

I am not as bad as I thought I was. I recently attempted a sketch of my nephew from a photo and I think it turned out okay.
