I have decided against doing an OE while I’m at secondary school. Next year is my final year and I really want to be here for it. But I have been thinking about doing and OE while at Uni. Lots of the Uni’s seem to have overseas programmes so I can continue studing my chosen course but in a different country! I also will be a bit older then so I’ll probably be able to handle it better but I won’t be too old and be tied down too much yet so it should be good. I think I would go for 6 months in my second or third year at uni. probably wouldn’t do it in the first as I want to make friends and get used to being in an NZ uni first. Not too sure where I want to go yet..

Recently I’ve been thinking about an OE, I want to travel and enjoy other countries while I’m young because otherwise when I get older it will be hard as I will have too many ties, family house etc for me to easily travel. I think it would be so awesome to live in a foreign country and learn how a different group of people live.
i want to be anywhere else but this town expesically a foregin country i would love to live in Italy i would love it nice summers good winters great everything but anyting else is better then this
my friend and i are planning to study abroad (but not through university, just through a semi-easy, fun language school) in spain for a summer not this year, but the next!! her friends went and got back and said it was amazing; their language school took care of everything, and they didn’t have to stay with host families, they stayed in their own apartment! omg how fun would that be?! :)
Thoughtcriminal31 - wondering why I haven't achieved these goals yet...
There are more immediate things I want to add to my list.. might add this again in the future.
have the itch to move to london with the boyfriend….they speak english there, so it wouldn’t be too hard to adjust…i loved london, and i know he would too….in a few years maybe? haha maybe we could open up a mexican food restaurant there!
maybe will do this as a study abroad program in a few semesters and/or a work study program teaching english…we’ll see—would love to live in mexico city for awhile, would also love to live in europe at some point…
There is no way this is going to happen anytime soon so for now I am going to “give up” but I will keep hope alive and maybe this goal will find it’s way back to my list once I have gotten out of debt.
Living in Italy for a while taught me alot, including how many deranged notions alot of people in Europe have about Americans.
That said, I wouldn’t trade the months I lived in Tuscany for anything. I learned that I am avery adaptable person, which was good to know. I also learned that being seen walking around the small town you live in with two unknown sailor boys from Naples (no matter HOW CUTE they are) can be bad for your reputation.
oh yeah, where ever i move, it is going to have to be a country where lots of people speak english because i am not very fluent in any other languages, i mean, i could most likely survive in a spanish speaking country, but if i ever really do get to live in another country i want to enjoy it, not struggle every day.
