I’ve always loved letterpress greeting cards, so now it’s time to make my own. There’s a weekend class coming up in August that I can’t wait to sign-up for!

I took the Letterpress I class at the San Francisco Center for the Book, taught by Mary Laird. I strongly recommend the class and instructor.
I’ve had a ball in my letterpress class. My instructor is rally knowledgable, and its great to have 3 hours a week where I HAVE to be creative no matter what.
Do it. You’ll be glad you did—plus, you’ll get some cool notecards out of the deal too!
I’m just wrapping up my letterpress project for the class I’m taking and I love it. It pretty much ate October, and may well be a turning point in my life. I’ve never really done any kind of visual creative stuff before, and I still don’t know if I’m cut out for it, exactly, but I know I like it! Just as a craft it’s delightful; the presses are cool old machines, setting type by hand transforms the way you look at and think about letters and words, and I have realized how important the colors of ink and the textures of paper really are. And I have (spottily) blogged the process.
Talk about amazing. I took an elective through the Creative Writing department and developed a friendship with the special collections librarian on campus. She introduced me to Carl and next thing I knew I was setting type once a week and cranking out fifty copies of my Tsugaru ben guide book. I definitely want to do it again.
