I recently received a book called Tarot Journaling…and have been following some of the suggestions in it to familiarize myself with my tarot deck. I have a “psychic” journal that I use to record dreams, intuitions that have been right, synchronicity, etc. Sometimes I’ll do a tarot reading and record the meanings of each card as relevant to their position, impressions and my own interpretations. Some days I just pick a card at random and copy the meanings from various books into my journal. For me, it’s easiest to remember things if I write them down…and especially if it’s done repetitively.
I still think it’s gonna take a long while to mark this as complete! So many cards….

it was fun. And I believe in them for meditation purposes to help you focus your mind. And, from a secular point of view, the artwork is often beautiful on modern decks.

Learning Tarot is a lot harder than it looked to me. There’s too many positions and meanings to remember—It’s insane! I mean, my Mom doesn’t use Tarot cards to read people, but I figured since I have high intuition too, it would be helpful to know.
I haven’t used my cards in a few weeks now, though if I use them [with the instruction booklet] the readings come out accurate enough. I think my talent is beyond reading cards though, or maybe it’s not for me. Ah well.
Time will tell.
Pia gave me a deck of tarot cards! It was so sweet of her. She knows that a deck should not be bought but is given as a gift.
Now I am trying to learn how to read the tarot. Its very challenging. Its an analytical exercise and I love it!
well i would like to more about tarot and ive been trying to learn but nobody that i knew could teach me
I’ve done several self-readings using books to guide me through interpretation. I want to get to the point where I no longer need books at all.
I’ve began by enrolling in an online tarot card tutorials. I’ve also downloaded a manual for using tarot cards, but it has so many pages that I’m not done printing them yet.
I still have to buy a deck though too.. I’m choosing among 3 decks:
1) Tarot of Metamorphosis
2) Universal Goddess Tarot
3) Tarot of Dreams
My friend said that a deck of tarot cards should be treated like a friend. It should be something that calls out to you and something you can relate to. Just like Wizards and their wands in Harry Potter.
Ah, sure, I can deal ‘em out and all…but I don’t know the meanings that my book comes equipped with without looking them up. And I need to know that before I will really be able to say I know how to read tarot cards. Gaelicgem had a great idea with one card a week. I guess I could make flash cards of a sort with some key words about the meaning. My book has a paragraph or so of explanation, and I’ll never be able to remember THAT much.

Sit a bunch of people around a table. Deal each person as many tarot cards as there are people playing. Each person keeps the card they feel best represents them and places it face down in front of themselves. They then hand one of their other cards to each other person – the card that they feel best associates with the other person. These cards are placed face up.
Then allow each person to choose a card (face up) from the deck and give it to the person to their right – this card represents a common bond.
Deal out a few random cards to everybody.
Now, each person arranges the cards into a story that has meaning to them. Share the stories. What did you learn about yourself? About the others?
