I want a golden retriever like Benjie, my roommates dog.
How I did it: Ok so this post is a long time coming. We moved into an apartment, moved into another apartment, got married and moved into a house (wow, check those off my list too!)
To decide if the Boxer breed was for us, we got involved in a local Boxer rescue group. Now, we are a foster family, pulling dogs from area shelters, getting them well again, and then helping them find home of their own. We are on our fourth foster, and we have a wonderful Boxer girl of our own too. Our newest challenge is a little white boy who is completely deaf. He's such a joy to watch him play and give kisses and never tire out and be so curious.
Lessons & tips: The best advice I can give is to work with a foster group or area shelter when looking to get a new puppy. There are so many deserving dogs who get put to sleep every day for no reason other than the shelter ran out of room. Which happens because people purchase their dogs from breeders. Breeders unnecessarily (and selfishly) continue to breed puppies when there is already an animal overpopulation in our country. Pet stores buy from breeders and treat their animals terribly. DO NOT SUPPORT PET STORES OR BREEDERS. Sadly, 10,000 dogs and cats die every day for no good reason. Imagine if we all stood together to defeat breeders and pet shops. Spay or neuter your pet - it makes a difference!!!
Resources: Legacy Boxer Rescue in DFW, Texas, was an invaluable resource, and we will forever be indebted to them for the love and lessons they've bestowed on us in allowing us to adopt our Boxer girl, Sabrina.

She’ll be there in 5 weeks from now. My chocolate brown girl with really long ears – and English cocker spaniel :)
paulina... IS TWO SIZES SMALLER!!
this seemed like a nice goal while i was living with my parents on 4 acres. now i’m living alone in a studio apartment, lol. i’m content with my cats for now. and i can’t really afford a dog right now. plus i don’t want to have to move a dog when i move out. SO, once i’ve got all my debt paid off and a new car and i’m living in my own house with my own yard – THEN i’ll adopt a dog. but for now, this goal is being given up on.

She’s beautiful, big, brown, yellow-eyed, looks a bit like a Doberman and her name is Nora after Norah Jones. When we first met her two days ago and took her for a walk, my mum wasn’t convinced because she didn’t seem very friendly and wouldn’t even look at either of us. Nevertheless, we were told she spent so much time in the stinking box she was too excited about going out to notice who she was going with – especially that almost every time she would go with a different volunteer. My mum was almost in tears as we watched her being locked in the box again. When we got back in the car and started driving back home, warm feelings towards the dog started building up in us both and before we even reached the ring road, we knew we wanted to adopt her. And so we went back to tell the staff at the kennels we wanted to have her neutered and that we would come back the following day to take her home. Now, I have her right here under my feet!

I have to have a yard for it to play in and it has to be a really really ridiculous looking mix of a bunch of indiscernible breeds.

I’ve already bought a lead and collar – now they’re just lying there waiting for the dog to arrive!
ChiOmegaGirl is looking for her perfect job. Help?
You have no idea how happy I am! We adopted a 2 month old Beagle mix today. We’d planned on naming our puppy Marley for so long, but now that he’s here, he looks more like a Cash. So that’s his name! Cash is a little dumpling and he has so many funny little personality traits. He’s only been with us for a day and already we’re so in love.
Yay Adoption!
I had to put my 15 year old shit-tzu/poodle mix to sleep last September. He had been my 10th birthday present. He moved out of my parents house with me and into my condo. I took it really rough when he died. I’m ready for another dog but first my work schedule needs to become a little more consistent….
