for lots and lots of swimming in the Big One. but that doesn’t help me get to Erie or Ontario!! Hmmm … Maybe we need to make a plan with our friends from Canada … maybe a swim tour is in order for next summer! For fun, here’s a recent shot from one of my walks…

I adopted this goal just for the fun of it! And, it so happens that I’d already done the deed in Superior, Michigan and Huron, so now I just need to get east and hit the remaining two! Not sure when this can happen, but perhaps enroute to more of Canada’s parks! :-)

I drove for 59 hours to accomplish this in 5 days. It was terrific! The road trip of a lifetime!

I plan on swimming in all of the Great Lakes in the next 2 weeks. I hope to make a very long weekend out of it!

It might not happen this summer as we’ve been told at work that as of May 1st, no more vacation time until November :(
BUT! I could make it work if I am ready to go and know what actually constitutes swimming….

But there’s a twist, that I have shared with limited people and need to explore further, bwahaha… it’s going to happen, I can feel it. Maybe this summer. MY QUESTION IS: what actually constitutes “Swimming” just going underwater, or is it paddling around for a set amount of time, or what. To say you have swam somewhere, what do you actually have to do for that to be true?

I wanted to swim across Lake Michigan. But until I am in better physical shape (see: Lose 30 pounds) I would like to swim in all of the Great Lakes. 1 down, 4 to go. I put my fingers in Superior. That doesn’t count.

I used to live near Lake Michigan in High School. Swum Michigan on numerous beach visits. Visited the UP and Lake Superior in the late 80’s. Now I live near Lake Erie. Swum Erie a few times with the kids. We regularly go past Erie, Ontario and Huron on the way to visit the grandparents.
in short: Michigan=done; Erie=done. 3 to go
