Texas LinWhen its 100 degrees in the shade
my mind wanders back in time to when I lived in the Northern Rockies.
As a child every Christmas we went as a family on our winter picnic. We looked forward to it as soon as thanksgiving was over.
My mom would make a big pot of chili and thermoses of hot chocolate. We would bundle up in our coats, scarfs, mittens and boots and pile into the car to go get our Christmas tree.
It was so much fun to help my Dad select the perfect tree. While he was cutting it down my mom was reheating the chili and we built our Christmas family of snowmen…
After lunch we would toast our marshmallows over the campfire for our s’mores dessert. Exhausted but happy we would sing carols all the way home.
It was a very special tradition. 5 years ago
