This is where my husband proposed to me, in March 2006.
Iceland has the most fantastic food I’ve ever eaten (I’ve still never eaten lamb to rival Iceland’s), great nightlife and amazing, mysterious, ethereal scenery. Sadly we missed the Northern Lights, but hope one day to return, either to see the Lights or the Midnight Sun.
It is extremely expensive though! But worth every penny for us..

lived there. Beautiful country. TO me anyway, some people don’t like it. Opinion I suppose.
I have always ben fascinated by this beautiful country. Aurora Borealis, Blue Lagoon and a different look at life.
I never had an interest in iceland until a few months ago when I read in the NY times travel section about it. Usually I am not really a fan of this particular section of the newspaper because it usually only describes where to go and everything, and there is never really a satisfactory description of the place…like the beauty of it and all. When I read the article there was this amazing picture of the Blue Lagoon, and I guess ever since then I have been absolutely dying to go. I jump every time someone mentions iceland! I have a huge list of places I have to go, but I think that Iceland could be my number 1 (tied with Paris, no matter how cliche)
*I was just reading some of the entries below and I do find it funny how so many of us are not only interested in visiting Iceland, but are literally OBSESSED.
For those of you who have already gone… did you see any puffins?
last year i went to ireland, which i’d wnated to do my whole life. the trip just fell into my lap – but i think i’ll have to work at getting to iceland!

I lived in Keflavik, Iceland for nearly two years while serving in the US Navy as an Operations Specialist. The country was amazing. It was the first place I ever experienced the Aurora Borealis.
There are sunsets like no other country here and the live volcano, Mount Hekla, which formed much of Iceland is still (very) active!
I wonder what came of the property the base was on when it closed? I will always miss the little hot dog stand by the flightline and mutton on Wednesdays at the chow hall!

I’m actually not giving up. I’m learning that I need to make smaller, more attainable goals to help me make the big ones. My first little goal is going to be that I work my consulting job for 2 hrs a day every day this week. That will help me make money to FUND the trip to Iceland. Wish me luck!
Watch the new Sigur Ros DVD, you’ll practically be booking your plane tickets there half-way through it.
