Wear a different outfit to work every day for 15 weeks

Early retirement for this goal! 3 years ago

For eleven weeks-that’s 22 class days-I have painstakingly combined outfits so that I have never had the same combination twice. Could I go the whole 15 weeks? Perhaps, but this is starting to be more trouble than it’s worth. It was a fun little challenge while it lasted, though, and I am proud I carried it this far!

Why do I care about this? 3 years ago

For much of my life, I have been clothing-deprived, with never more than five days of work clothes in the closet. Part of this was just because I had no money.

However, I am also fashion-challenged. I never notice what people are wearing, and don’t much care what I wear beyond caring if it’s comfortable.

I now have a system—black pants and black shoes every day, mixed with the occasional pair of jeans. So every top I have goes with every bottom. Yay! Now, I am trying to add variety by layering, mixing and matching, and so on. No one will notice this but me, but it is important to me to do it. So far, eight weeks, 16 outfits (only sixteen since I teach just 2 days a week. Only teaching days count). Yessss!

I have had a new, lightweight . . . 3 years ago

. . . jacket in my closet for a while. I just washed it and laid it out to dry. One more thing to save me until cooler weather gets here! It’s the end of week 7 and still going strong!

I am also not counting . . . 3 years ago

. . . days that I go in to work for a meeting or to work in the library but don’t have an actual class to teach. Counting class days only, I have made it so far, and it is week 7.

Cooler weather is important too 3 years ago

The semester started in August, so it better turn cool soon. I can’t do a no-repeat semester without using both summer and winter clothes!

Easier than it sounds, because . . . 3 years ago

I am on a two-day per week teaching schedule. Here are the rules:

1. Pants don’t count. I wear black pants every day.

2. I can weat the same shirt/top, as long as I layer it in a different combination.

3. Shoes don’t count.
