He said it was the best margarita he’d had in quite some time.

ACCOMPLISHED! 2 years ago

change everythingFINALLY!

I found a 100% lime juice at Target…it’s expensive, but you only need a shot glass or two of it for a margarita anyway.

This may be what I have needed to finally make this goal for real…it takes away the need to find limes in the midst of January. 2 years ago

change everythinghere is the problem

I want to make the margarita my own…not rely on mix, because most mix is all high fructose corn syrup. Of course I can buy limes… Most do-it-yourself recipes call for limeade, and every limeade I’ve seen so far has high fructose corn syrup in it.

I’m going to have to keep looking for a limeade concentrate or else study other frozen juices that are 100% and experiment a bit. Summer is here and it’s time for tequila, dang it. 2 years ago

change everythingIn learning that Cost Plus World Market is closing,

I found out that they sell a margarita mix that is actually juice rather than high fructose corn syrup.

Too bad they are closing :( Maybe I can go pick up a bottle before that happens. 3 years ago

change everythingnew ice trays

I am making these guys so often that I had to get extra ice trays today (well, for margaritas and iced tea…summer is definitely here) 3 years ago

change everythingI got great compliments the other night

People saying it was the best margarita they’ve had (probably because at most restaurants they don’t use good tequila), but I still want to branch out to a few more recipes before I mark this as done. 3 years ago

change everythingGood tequila is the key

I bought some the shelf above Jose Cuervo. It is smooth and totally worth the extra $8 or whatever. Last night I just made a few classic ones…tequila, triple sec, a little mix, lime juice…I spent $55 on liquor, a shaker, and salt, but last night alone I made 4, which would have cost close to $30 had we been out somewhere. I need to perfect getting the salt on the rim and then try a few more recipes, and I will consider this done. 3 years ago

change everythingResources: check

I have the book from the library as well as the email from a friend. I want to get good liquor, so I’m probably going to have to buy it in stages. It snowed last night, so I still have time before margarita summer begins. I get paid this week and will run out to get at least one of the ingredients needed so I’m not feeling like I’m spending a huge chunk of money at the liquor store. 3 years ago

change everythingI love margaritas far too much

to only be consuming them when I go out and am willing to spend $7.

I’m emailing a friend who apparently is a great mixologist as well as putting a book on hold at the library. I anxiously await the summer of the margarita. Bring it on. 3 years ago

TheHotPinkLadyTHE Best Margarita Recipe Ever.

I swear that this is the best margarita in the world. It’s only got three ingredients, but it’s better than any restaurant margarita. And no matter when or where you make it, people will beg for more and hound you for the recipe. But it’s more fun not to give it to them :O)

Panty-Dropping Margaritas
  • Fill to top with ice. Use as much ice as the blender will hold. If not, it will be too slushy.
  • 1 6 oz. Container Minute Maid Limeade Concentrate
Make sure it’s a 6 oz. Most people buy 12 oz. containers, but the 6 oz. containers are very tiny.
  • 1 Limeade Container-Full of Tequila
  • 1/2 Limeade Container-Full of Triple Sec (or Blue Curacao for AWESOME Blue Margaritas)

There’s a billion variations to these babies, but the classic recipe is always amazing. Adding pomegranate juice as a float or mixing it in the blender is my favorite. Here are a ton more to try!

  • Too sour: add 1 tbs. of powdered sugar (sometimes 2).
  • Too strong: add a little more frozen limeade.
  • Half an ounce of OJ makes it even better, or a little cranberry juice or pineapple juice.
  • For strawberry margaritas add either fresh or frozen strawberries.
  • Mango margaritas can be made by adding a ripe peeled and pitted mango.
  • Summer ‘Ritas: Chunk up and de-seed about 2 to 3 cups of watermelon. Freeze the watermelon and add with the ice.
  • Use a little red wine on top for tartness and color.
  • Try (very slowly, add in little bits so it won’t foam up) a full can/bottle of beer (6 oz.) at the end. It mellows the tartness of the limeade and smooths the whole mix out nicely.
  • Less ice and a little bit of lime sherbet to make it creamy.

They’re EXTREMELY STRONG (almost twice as strong as a normal margarita), so drink with caution! And of course, need I mention some grain salt can be added to the rim for a good old-fashioned ‘rita.

Enjoy! :O) 5 years ago

TaylorTried carbonated limeade

As a base for margaritas last night. OK, but not great. 5 years ago

TaylorI love margaritas

I sometimes buy a lime margarita mix from William Sonoma, but want to perfect my own recipe, first, because I’m cheap, and second, because I think I can do it better.

Last weekend my wife and I made a margarita sorbet:
1 can of Minute Maid limeade
1 can of water
1/4 cup of tequila
1/8 cup of Triple Sec.

Blend on high for 30 seconds, and pour into a freezer container. Freeze overnight. Return mix to blender for 1 minute. Refreeze several hours. Enjoy. 5 years ago

Look for a recipe titled “Margaritas on the Rocks” – it’s a great starting point. You’ll probably need to cut the tequila down, though. Just about everyone who reviewed the recipe said the same, so I started off with less.

Friends now tell me that I make the best margaritas they’ve ever had : ) 5 years ago
