This year’s dates came out this week and I sent my reply immediately and am now waiting to hear back….
The vineyard sent 2 dates – the first coincided with my sister’s wedding and the second with the 5th annual historic house tour to which I had already committed (plus I invited friends to dinner in Maine) – SO – not this year. I may have to let this goal go…
I just heard from the vineyard that the harvest (which was postponed from yesterday due to heavy rainstorms) is now postponed to tomorrow because of a power outage. Since I have work commitments for tomorrow that I cannot change, the harvest is cancelled for me.
Pretty bummed because I borrowed pruning shears and had my grape stomping clothes all packed. Oh well – the upside is that my youngest sister is in town for a few hours only for a baby shower & now I can meet her for a drink before she heads back to NYC this afternoon.
And I am not removing the goal from my list, just moving it down a bit. They are keeping me on the volunteer list for the 2006 harvest!
The Flag Hill Winery invites people to help them harvest the grapes, has a feast including wine after the harvest and an annual grape stomp.
