Okay, so in Texas we don’t really have much of a winter to speak of. Here we are at the beginning of November and it’s in the mid-70s. But, the “winter” season means that lighter cotton fabrics are on clearance right now, so I want to make myself some summer yukata for next year.
I know it’s silly, but I had a dream once where I was wearing a pink yukata with a yellow obi, and every since then I’ve wanted to have that outfit to wear in summer. I love kimono, and I have several that I’ve bought from Ichiroya (love him!), but yukata online seem so expensive, and kimono are absurdly easy to make, so I’m making my summer wardrobe on my own. ^^

I have alway wanted to make one.
I find the perfect pattern , it is butterick 6698.
I’ve been sewing for long time so it won’t be hard.

I’m from the Chicagoland area. My wife and I want to learn how to make kimonos, preferably from someone who knows how to do it properly. We are willing to travel to their place of business or home to learn if it is somewhere in the midwest.

Have found lots of info on the net, and THINK I know what I need to do! Only problem… I have no sowing machine hehe. Think I’ll ask for one for my birthday, as I wont really be able to start before then anyway. Am going to go to the market at some point soon and look for materials! Will be very much fun :).
