pass the DALF

How I did it: I had had French classes for 6 years in high school, and have been using my linguistic skills at university as well. I've lived in several francophone countries which helps. Recently I decided that I wanted to get official proof of my linguistic skills, so I took a course at the university language centre which prepares for DALF C1. Taking this course really helped me to stay focused, especially since I work full time and had to do all my studying in weekends or at night. As a result, after 5 months of taking this course, I passed the test and got my diploma- for life!

Lessons & tips:

• take a language course to support your studies
  
• use text books that specifically prepare for the course, but in addition, listen to French radio/tv as much as you can
  
• read novels to make it fun and enrich your vocabulary
  
• train, train, train yourself in taking the DALF test, especially the compréhension orale since this part is much more difficult than you would expect
  
• have a good night's sleep the night before you take the test
  
• make sure you take the test at Alliance Française so that your diploma will be the official DALF (apply way in advance for test dates)
