Im only 24 & already have a frown line!
I seem to frown all the time but i don’t even realise im doing it!
I think it’s because i never used to wear my glasses to read so was frowning just to see!! But now i’ve damaged my eyes so much i have to wear my glasses all the time so i don’t know why i’m still frowning??!
I gota try & stop.

I need to stop frowning 6 months ago

I was told by my supervisor to get botox to stop frowning. She meant it as a joke but it didn’t help lighten the mood. It’s just so damn frustrating. I try to remind myself not to frown all the time, particularly when I am in meetings, but I don’t know what else to do with my face. Do I just tell it to relax? Do I raise my eyebrows and do the “deer in the headlights” look? Which feels utterly ridiculous. Or did I try to smile which is not always appropriate given the seriousness of the meeting.

:D
I’m working on it.

DAY ONE 2 years ago

Okay.
I’m very surprised to find that it hurts to smile for any length of time! Good thing I’m not a contestant in the Mrs. America Pageant. YIKES!

I’ve been very conscious of my face today and am trying to stop the frown. I’m sure this will be a long process as it’s been years in the making.

Will keep you posted on progress and on whether or not I feel any different.

TODAY 2 years ago

I frown ALL THE TIME! I even notice it when I wake each morning. The corners of my mouth are turned completely downward. My children notice it when I’m working . . . they ask me what’s wrong.

It’s not something I know I’m doing. I just do it.

In noticing this about myself, I’m more aware of the people around me that do it too. An interesting thing is that, of the people in my life who are frowners, all of us suffer from depression.

Are the two related? I’m very interested in studying this and changing it in myself.

Here is... 2 years ago

...a picture to show my frown line! I’m actually only frowning cos the sun’s in my eyes, but it shows the line nonetheless and just proves I’m not lying, and that i really do need help achieving this goal!

(as much) 2 years ago

This goal is truly very necessary, seeing as at the tender age of about 13 I developed a frown line between my eyebrows. How vair attractive. I’m not entirely sure why cos generally I think of myself as quite a happy person…but anyway, it’s there and I don’t want to make it any worse. Also there’s a girl in my year who is quite literally terrified by my frown – seriously, I could get her to do anything I want, just by frowning. Advantageous though that may seem, I don’t reeeally want people scared of me and my facial expressions, particularly when they’re not usually deliberate…

Wow 3 years ago

You know what? I think I’ve done it.

A while of self-awareness, and I almost constantly feel lighter and happier when doing every-day tasks. Frowns out, smiles in! W00t!

Interesting 3 years ago

I have become supremely aware of my facial expression on most occasions now… I realise that I’ve had a bit of a sour face while dealing with people in the big wide world.

Well not any more… time to open up and smile more. It feels better and it shows in the treatment I receive.

Better 3 years ago

I know that I have made myself aware when I am frowning, and I also know that I am finding myself frowning less often.

That leads to the conclusion that I am frowning less often.

It makes simple tasks less stressful, and I think my face is becoming more open as a result. Hurrah!
