rebuild a camaro

hey people right now im a sophmore in highschool and ive always wanted to build or rebuild a camaro because i think it could be a great and forfilling hobbie and my favorite car is a camaro

I’ve got a 1987 camaro i’m working on. It’s only got a 305 in it, and from what i hear, that’s not the best engine. I really don’t know much about cars and i was kinda hoping for some advice on things i can do to add a little power to it. I’ve always loved this car, but as far as races, it could do a lot better. So far, I’ve only had true dual exhaust and flowmasters put on it. Any advice would be appreciated. I’ll get pics put up in a little while.

My friend and I are rebuilding the ‘86 Camaro (pictured here) into a go-fast street car. This is my first real foray into the world of cars, and it has been awesome so far.

Apparently this is not the most popular hobby, but I loved it. I got a Tuned Port Injection ‘85 Z28 when I was 17, and it was a complete p.o.s. For example I pulled apart the top half of the motor and found someone had cut gaskets out of cardboard for the intake. hmmmm. I have no words. In any case I spent about 8 years and many thousands of dollars restoring it and still have many years to go. (But so worth it!) I have owned three cars since I bought it, but can’t seem to let it go. Its black on black on black, & its so bad. Got me in plenty of trouble. Really gives meaning to the phrase “sit down, shut up and hold on”. Those F-bodies are planted on rails!!!!

So I just started this job at a junk yard and found this ‘81 Camaro missing almost everything and they said it was for the crusher… but I managed to get the trim off the front and back windows, the headlight holder, tons of circut breakers all still good, and some screws that I was missing. Sad thing is I can’t work on my car right now because I am in Hawai’i…. but all the stuff I got… FREE! Now tell me does my job have perks or what!
