I’ve learned about half of them, again and again, lol. Time to try again and stick to it, now I’m leaving school. Wish me luck!

How to learn hiragana"It feels brilliant. I am now one step closer to learning Japanese."
How I did it: I bought some of the White Rabbit Press Kana Flashcards and studied them every night just before bed. Then when I woke up I would try to write down as many as I could. Eventually the number I could remember got bigger. I also went on an extremely good website called iknow they have a brilliant Hiragana course on there that tracks your progress. Lessons & tips: Study every night just before you sleep. Resources: www.iknow.co.jp |

How I did it: I'm completely guessing that it would have taken about 10 days if I had been completely focused on it, but to be honest, I wasn't really keeping track. Since I first learned how to write my name in katakana at age 7, and with all the off-and-on studying before I went to live in Japan after high school, I don't really remember how long it took. I know that I had them mastered by the time I started official Japanese language classes just be… Read how I did it…
How I did it: Flash cards, writing the characters over and over again... basically just lots and lots and lots of hard-core practice.Luckily, I had a few friends willing to work on it with me.At least, until I drove them all crazy by speaking in tongues and writing chicken scratch :P Read how I did it…

How I did it: Simple...I used this site:http://learnthekana.com/the-hiragana-chart/When u click each symbol and scroll down...there are Mnemonics listed. Mnemonics help you to associated the characters to something u do know and commit them to memory. Some mnemonics i substituted for some i made up. But some of these were good and very helpful. For example for the 'a' sound:あ..their mnemonics are: Mnemonic 1: “Aah!” - The kana is a picture of a magician… Read how I did it…
Julie is procrastinating (as usual).
How I did it: Each day, I would write a set of hiragana over and over. At the end of the day, I would use flashcards to review what I've learned. The Internet is very resourceful. You can find the hiragana chart, the hiragana stroke orders, sound filies on how to pronounce them, and exercises to practice them. There are many other resources as well but the ones listed are the ones I've used. Read how I did it…

mleal is so unbelievably happy :-)
finally, i have memorized it all, and even though i’m not fluent at reading hiragana, i’m pretty fast!

so i’m doing great! so far i have everything down except the ‘za zi zu za zo’ hiragana, and the ‘kya kyu kyo’ hiragana.

so I was looking up some worksheets for Hiragana, and I found some! It’s perfect, but I need to find a printer so I can actually use them, heh.
But for now I’m just using my journal for Japanese to write them down…

i have a good amount already memorized, but i’ve been slackin’ a lot lately. on to learn the rest of it!
i’m hoping to learn it by atleast the end of this month. i have a lot of other things going on lately, so this isn’t a huge HUGE priority.
My big goal is to learn Japanese, but “learn Japanese” is a huge and overwhelming goal! So I decided to make it more manageable and split it up. Currently, my goals are to learn 1) hiragana, 2) katakana and 3) kanji. These are the three writing systems used in Japanese. I figure I can learn the first two quicker, since there’s 46 symbols in each and there are over 2,000 common kanji.
Cocurrently, I’m going to begin learning basics of Japanese grammar and vocabulary.
Off to the races! I’ll let you know how I do.
If anyone has tips, lemme know. I also ordered this book as an early holiday present for myself. I need mnemonics!
and have managed the first line so far!
On to ka, ki, ku, ke, ko!
