I rode to work, just to see how the route looks. It takes two hours, and if I just turn around and ride back like I did yesterday, then I need to follow the ride with a nap.

How to ride my bike to work"Brilliant, gets you motivated and you feel good after the ride"
How I did it: I bought a really good bike through the cycle to work scheme http://www.cyclescheme.co.uk/ organised by my company,I saved myself a lot of money and was able to get the bike I really wanted :D Lessons & tips: Find safe routes to cycle, I'm lucky as the council recently built a really good cycle path near where I live Resources: I checked out a few websites for inspiration, though some of them are a bit hardcore, like cycling in the snow!!!! |

How I did it: Preparation is key- scope our your route by car, pack your bag and try riding with it, scope out showering options. I also got an Eagle Creek clothing folder to pack in my backpack which keeps my clothes wrinkle-free. Read how I did it…
How I did it: Given the length of the commute, I had to make sure I had good lights, a helmet (mine went missing in the last move) and fix the persistent slow-leak on my bike. Other than that, it was just making sure to allow enough time in the morning. Read how I did it…
How I did it: 1) Got the bike (a decent commuter from an independent shop), not a Wal-Mart or big box special2) Sold the car (this way I HAD to do it)3) Prepared by getting advice from others doing this and from various web sites for bicycle commuters Read how I did it…
selfAfflicted the only thing keeping you down now is yourself
How I did it: Well, I had to buy a bike, and wait for it to get cooler out and stop procrastinating! It was only four miles, but a total trip of eight, so I really feel like I got a workout in. I just woke up one morning, decided it was time I try it, and went into work. Read how I did it…

Been riding my bike again as the Summer here has been dismal early Autumn morning, still in sandals and a skirt, could feel the nip in the air now… but glorious sunshine and zooming down the cycle path… downhilll into town hehe
My life has gone a bit pear shaped In one area so the exercise is helping!
I love my bike :D

Just bought myself a new bike for my birthday! Woot! Can’t wait to start riding. It’s about 10 miles round trip. The only drawback is that I work super early shifts (as early as 5am, which would require me to leave the house by 4:15am)...However…I know I will feel so much better if I do this for myself! Plus, it’s a great way to ease into my work day and relax and clear my mind after a hard days work.
We’ll see how this week goes!

Need to start this again
Working long long hours, just not the will to cycle or do anything else for that matter
Just cleaned my bike so as I’m holiday will be riding more now as have more energy!
I managed to do it again. Tomorrow will be a day of rest though. The reason is that i’ll go to the climbing gym in the evening. I don’t want to transport all my climbing stuff by bike. I’ve to admit that i am not really sorry about the day off. Riding your bike for two hours a day takes some time to get used too (at least i hope that i won’t be that exhausted after doing it for a few weeks).
First day i rode my bike to work. I heavily deviated from my planed route (aka. got lost) but some how everything work out nicely. 2/3 of this route are actually very nice for ridding a bike (park areas, riding areas along side a river). I’d never though this would be possible. Also it was a very beautiful morning, the sun was shining, the air was still cold (its spring here in Germany).
I only problem is that my left knee is giving me trouble. I had an sport accident a few years ago and after the operation it was always kind of fragile. Lets see how it feels tomorrow morning. I would be so pissed if i couldn’t continue…
I got a new job so this becomes actually feasible. The single-direction distance is about 15 kilometers. The downside is that nearly the whole 15 kilometers are the streets of a major city. During rush hour this is not really a nice ride.
To deal with this i sat down today and tried to figure at a ride that will take me as much as possible through side streets and parks. I will test this route tomorrow morning. Lets see how it works out.
MJZ82 trying to get back on track
Starting this Monday I will begin my commute on two wheels instead of four. I plan on riding my bike every day to work; rain or shine. My route is all planned out and I recently bought a tail light so that cars can see me in the early morning hours. There isn’t an easier way to save money on gas, or help the environment. No more morning coffee for me, all I need to get me energized is the wind in my face as I peddle along.
I got air in my tires and new tape on my handlebars, a helmet in my closet, and I’m ready to go on Monday (well, if the weather is nice…)
MJZ82 trying to get back on track
I recently got new tires on my bike and the very next week was offered a job that I applied to over 4 months ago. Things are starting to fall into place nicely. I don’t know what I’m more exited about, the job itself, or the fact that I get to ride my bike to work.
