    Disappointed  — 9 months ago

Been a while since I opened 43 things. I’ve a different job now, but I guess I oughta tie up some lose ends.

    I didn’t get the job.

Got through to the 3rd and final interview for Starbucks. A few days later though, they said they didn’t need my services.

I feel really let down. For their part, they did tell me that since I wasn’t able to finish college, I could only be a part-timer, and even that wasn’t a certainty. I was incredulous, but I wanted the job so bad that even that would have been good enough for me. I love coffee and the art of drinking coffee that much.

The ironic thing is that most of the other applicants didn’t even give two shits about what coffee is all about. They didn’t even know much about coffee, much less the much publicized Starbucks company culture when they were asked about it in the group interview.

I wonder what would have happened if I had applied in a country wherein Starbucks directly operates instead of one where it’s licensed?

Wishful thinking. I’ll stop whining now.

    Worth doing!

I worked at Starbucks for about two years, I loved most of it. Working with coffee was cool but every customer was a ‘customer before they have had their morning (or afternoon as the case may be) coffee’. Needless to say, some were fairly rude. Oh well, I still look back with a longing in my heart (and a bigger paycheck where I work now).

If you want to, do it, you will love it.

Barista Camp  — 1 year ago

Doesn’t this sound fun? I’d like to go to a Barista Camp where (I’m making this up as I go) a local cafe would train “campers” in the art of beans, espresso-making, latte art, etc. They could hold 3-day or 5-day camps. I think this is an awesome idea. :-)

I go to school in Seattle and have ALWAYS wanted to be a barista there, so, I got a job at Peet’s Coffee and Tea for the summer and am absolutely loving the training and everything. Coffee is quite an amazing, sacred drink and I love being able to check this off my list!

    I'm such a snob now...  — 2 years ago

    It’s delicious.

my mom says my lattes are good so I KNOW they are. The only problem right now is speed, but I hate when people hammer out bad drinks. Sometimes I have to throw out lattes because they are so bad, and that ruins my whole morning. I guess I should just order coffee.
