LPBraun needs to do some cardio & posture exercises!
I have an allergy test (or at least an appointment) scheduled for 10/15/09. Can’t wait to see results!
How I did it: I went to my doctor and came straight out and asked her if I could have an allergy test done. She happily referred me to an allergy specialist and gave me a business card of a reputable place.
At the allergy center, they asked me what all I would like to be tested for. I said everything & anything they could possibly test for. Well, it ended up being between 130 and 150 different things! My back was covered! They tested for all inhalants and all foods! I showed no allergic reactions at all. Since they didn't find anything there, they did some blood testing on my arm using higher concentrations. Nothing. I have absolutely no allergies!!
Just to let you know if you are interested, the skin prick test does not hurt (it kinda tickles). They will only do blood testing if you do not show a reaction to the skin prick test. The blood testing will only test for inhalants (mold, dust, weeds, etc.). It consists of about 10-15 small injections in the arm. It's not bad at all! The results of the skin prick test and the blood test are all available in 15 minutes!!!
By the way......I was motivated to get an allergy test because my sister-in-law found out that she was allergic to 52 different things! I thought to myself, "My gosh, maybe we are all allergic to lots of stuff and don't even know it!". She found out that she was allergic to cats and had no idea. Turns out, her cat was the cause of her migraine headaches! The test I had done also included cats, dogs, and horses(?!).
Lessons & tips: * Go to the appointment 15 min early & allow about 2 hours.
* When I made my appointment, they mailed me papers to fill out ahead of time - one of the papers said not to wear any body lotions, perfumes, etc. - It doesn't matter!- I took a shower and made sure I was clean & free of lotions and perfume before I went and they didn't even care. She said, "We clean the area with alcohol anyway to remove lotion and perfume.". So, don't worry about being lotion free when you go. It doesn't matter.

LPBraun needs to do some cardio & posture exercises!
I have some vitamin/mineral tests I want done immediately to see if Kinesiologist was accurate so I think it will be a good time to ask the doc. I couldn’t get in to see my doc any sooner than next week.
purplesue cant concentrate properly, wants this to stop aarhh
always ill and don’t know what causes it, need it sorted out once and for all
Doctor said the way it’s usually done is to treat symptoms and get the skin test if that fails, but that I could get one if i’m just curious. I don’t want to medicate really, and my symptoms have gone away already, so I’m just going to see how it goes next year. It’s true that i’m curious, but not so curious that I’m going to miss work/pay for the doctor just for fun.
