But I wont be able to run the Chicago marathon. My doctor said the extensive training i would have to do alone would damage my knees further than they are already and the actual marathon itself might make them explode he didn’t actually say explode but he told me i could destroy them. I should find my old track teacher and kick him in the goods for the things he had us do. can you believe he actually told us to find an old comfortable pair of shoes to run in. There goes my shot at the Chicago marathon. :(

I’ve never ran a marathon so this should definitely be an experience. The most I’ve ever ran in the past is 10 miles, so the 26.2 seems a little daunting. I’ve started my training schedule and seem to be doing pretty well so far. I’ve armed myself with a good pair of running shoes, a beautiful running trail, upbeat and positive songs, and tons and tons of inspirational quotes to keep me going when things get tough.

forty-four fifty-five. not the best, but forty degrees and not running for weeks didn’t stop me. On to real training!

Tomorrow is the kick off of the 2008 running season and the road to the marathon. Supposed to be cold and rainy, but, hey it’s gonna be fun. Earth hour is here so I’m off

Signed up and ready to go! I ran last year, but due to the heat was stopped by the police when they ended the race early. Ugh.
Also running the 1/2 in Indy in May!

I’m registered for the Shuffle and I am starting a track team at the base to help with the training… hopefully some funds.

Today I start the training for the 08 season, and am thinking of three competitions:
1) Shamrock Shuffle -short race to help me get my speed up and give me a short term goal
2) Air Force Marathon -out at Wright/Patterson AF Base in Ohio. It should be a good bench for Chicago in October….
3) Chicago Marathon -last time maybe, but trying to prove that once was not a fluke and my time can be better.

So Chicago was a disaster. I couldn’t handle the heat. I was dehydrated, lightheaded and nauteous. I kept falling further and further behind. I only made it halfway before they finally cancelled the race. I took a bus to the finish line.
BUT.
After Chicago I signed up for the Detroit marathon and I finished that one.
Until next year, Chicago.

Figures that I would choose to run a marathon on the record hottest day. Still, with faith and a some prayer and a lot of water and a truckload of pain, I did it. Finnished. May even do it again…
