Iv wanted one since i was little they are so cool! And since im looking at getting my permit soon i think that it would be pretty sweet to own one as my first car!

About 4 years ago my wife and I decided we wanted to drive across Canada. We both agreed to only way to do this was in some sort of RV. Our friends had recently purchased a large Winnibego, but we wanted something different, something that would get good fuel economy, but still provide a home away from home.

After a lot of research and a few Saturday’s spent at VW shows I knew a Westfalia was the right vehicle. Further style choices and personal preferences narrowed it down to a 76-79 Bay Window model. After a few weeks of searching on AutoTrader we found our Westy – a 1978 sage green Weekender model.

Have a stable career? Nope. Pay off student loans? No thanks. Travel to Europe? Maybe some other time. Own a VW bus? Hells yeah!!! My life long dream above all other dreams is to one day own a VW bus. Starting this month, I will put away at least $200 from every paycheck into a savings account for my dream bus. I will purchase it from somewhere on the West coast, fly down wherever it is, pick it up, and drive it back to AK. Which actually ties into my #1 goal…the ultimate road trip to Alaska in my new bus. Wheeeeeeee!
