I am half Sicilian (the other half is from Southern Italy) so it was amazing to travel around the island. There is so much beauty there despite its faults. I would love to actually live there sometime. I have lived in Rome but Sicily would be such a different experience as far as living is concerned. But there are just so many different things to see there if you go. I just can’t express in words how much I loved it.

a wonderful place to visit. palermo ranks high as one of my favorite cities. a pure mix of cultures, cuisines, engergies. don’t forget the aeolian islands. also don’t miss baroque towns like noto and modica. the food there is to die for. heavenly desserts and delicious streetfoods.
other highlights: climbing mt. etna to look at lava, buying food in the markets of catania, taormina at night.
My grandfather’s family is from Caltanissetta, Sicily. I’d love to visit Sicily someday and see what it was like for my ancestors to live in Sicily.
I want to visit my home town of Trapani, Sicily where my family started one of the greatest organizations of the world. Sorry but I cannot tell you of this secret organization in which I work, for it could get me hurt in the process. I want to visit my mother who is still living there. Please comment on how much this would cost to fly there.
This was one of the most life changing experiences I’ve had. Because of this trip I am going to Italy this summer to live for a year. It is amazing how something so small can open up your eyes and heart.
I visited Sicily in March 2005 and it was amazing! I went to Siracusa, my mom grew up there. We stayed in the old part of town in a beautiful small hotel facing the marina. The seafood in the restaurant across the street (La Rambla) was so fresh and delicious. Visit the market in the morning and you will hear all the vendors singing and hawking their wares. I had such a wonderful time and can’t wait to go back. And don’t leave without having some gelato! Yum.
