But another book down! Ghost Story by Jim Butcher. Harry Dresden has died, but still can’t leave Chicago without it’s only resident wizard. Started slow, but picked up nicely, and had some intriguing developments at the end. Can’t wait for next year’s volume! 20 months ago
So I’ve been off to a slow start, reading wise. I blame Netflix, personally, lol.
But I finally have three books under my belt.
1) Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
2) Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
3) Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
All rereads, and srprisingly better than I remember. Now to see if I can keep on the reading bandwagon to finish the other three books I’m halfway through :p 22 months ago
1) God of War
2) Profiles in Courage
3) The Perks of Being A Wallflower
4) Animal Farm
5) The Red Badge of Courage
6) Free For All: How Linux changed the world
7) Farewell To Arms
8) It is well within my soul
9) The Count of Monte Cristo
10) Phoenix without ashes*
11) The Walking Dead: Days Gone Bye*
12) How to Speak and Write Correctly by Joseph Delvin **
My plans for the next 12 are:
13) Romeo & Juliet
14) Why Johnny Still Can’t Read
15) The Universe In A Single Atom by the Dalai Lama
16) The Meditations of Marcus Aurelius (re-read)
17) The Metamorphoses
18) Influence: The Psychology of Persausion
19) O’Reilly manual on XML
20) Brief Insights Series: Nelson Mandela
21) Sun Tzu Art of War

My 12 books for 2011 are

The only problem with this is that I haven’t actually finished the first three on this list. Hence the 95%. If I can put down my iphone long enough I can plow through these in a matter of days. I guess it’s just all about willpower at this point. 23 months ago

Reading 12 books in a year may not seem like much to some but I don’t read much and I’ve always wanted to read more. Last year I read 8 so I figured a book a month for this year would be a good place to start.
I’ve already been working on this since the beginning of the year. As of today I’ve read 6 and am currently reading #7 so I’m right on track! Maybe I’ll even get more that twelve in!
Here’s what I’ve read so far…..
Psych: A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Read, by William Rabkin
Water For Elephants, by Sara Gruen
Here’s the Deal: Don’t Touch Me, by Howie Mandel
City of Bones (Mortal Instruments), by Cassandra Clare
City of Ashes (Mortal Instruments), by Cassandra Clare
City of Glass (Mortal Instruments), by Cassandra Clare23 months ago
Free For All: How Linux and the Free Software Movement Undercut The High Tech Titans
The Perks Of Being A Wallflower
Flowers For Algernon (currently reading)
Only Three More left! If I keep up a good pace I should be able to triple this goal by the end of the year. 23 months ago
Death in the Latin Quarter by Raphael Cardetti.
Another history/adventure novel. Quite liked it, especially since it is set in Paris (I was there last year in June) and it was so cool to reminisce about that time. Definitely both well-written and a page-turner.
There are some annoyances though, such as everyone vaguely attractive in Paris having ‘artfully tousled hair’, LOL. 2 years ago
I haven’t done much reading this past month, but I’m pretty sure I’m at least 2/3rds down to completing this goal.
Go Ask Alice
It Is Well Within My Soul
The Walking Dead: Days Gone Bye (comic books count!)
The Count of Monte Cristo
The Universe In A Single Atom
The Metamorpheses
... Huh, I guess I’m only half way done. I blame my iPhone. I haven’t put that thing down since I bought it six weeks ago. I really have to start weening myself. 2 years ago
I’ve read the following books this year:
1. “The Good Earth”
2. “An Anthropologist on Mars”
3. “How to Live on 24 Hours a Day”
4. “Sisters”
5. “The Poisonwood Bible”
6. “No Nest for the Wicket”
Six more to go before I reach my goal for the year! :) 2 years ago
