    Accountability  — 2 months ago

It’s a nice way of keeping track of books I want to read. I really need something to do that.

...for the books that I’ve read lately, so I thought I’d claim it as an accomplishment. It’s kind of nice to be able to look back and see what I’ve read and when.

    Goals For 2008  — 6 months ago

    Worth doing!

Intending to use www.allconsuming.net again this year, I have posted my new goals & will keep a tally of my ongoing reading, film viewing, & events attended, here.

Summary as of 24 June 2008:

    • Books Read: 40
(I’ve read two books from last year’s list
a second time, but I’m not recording them
at AC, since I don’t want to screw up my
      yearly statistics in the database)
      Books Goal: 100
    • Movies Watched: 12
(I’ve watched one film from last year’s list
a second time, but I’m not recording it
at AC, since I don’t want to screw up my
      yearly statistics in the database)
      Movies Goal: 30
    • Events Attended: 4
      1 performances of live music
      1 performance of live theatre
      1 performance of live dance
      – special exhibition
      Events Goal: 12
    • Unusual Food/Drink Item Consumed: 4
Unusual Food/Drink Item Goal: specific number not set

It's the last day of the year...  — 1 year ago

    Worth doing!

Having used www.allconsuming.net consistently during 2007, I have posted my totals, with explanation & amplification, below.

    Last edited 31 December 2007

    • I read 111 books
    • I watched 35 movies
    • I attended 8 events:
      5 performances of live music
      1 performance of live theatre
      1 performance of live dance
      1 special exhibition
    • I consumed 1 new/unusual food/drink item

BOOKS: These numbers are slightly skewed because two books that I have begun but not yet finished – Istanbul: Memories & the City & A is for American – are included in the listing. Goal for 2008: 100 books.

MOVIES: These numbers are also a little skewed because a multi-part item (such as the video series “Big Love”) is recorded as a single object. Goal for 2008: 30 movies.

EVENTS: These numbers are accurate for musical concerts & live theatre & dance performances, as well as a special exhibition; exhibitions of other sorts (e.g., art galleries & museums) are generally not included. Goal for 2008: 12 events.

FOOD & DRINK: I listed only one of the many new things that I tried this year—& that only because I wanted to mention it to someone else who is/was using AllConsuming. Goal for 2008: While I may record some of the unusual things that I eat or drink, or items that I try for the first time, I don’t want the process to become tedious (because I know I wouldn’t keep up with my listings if that were to occur!). For this reason, I’m not setting a specific goal number here.

I really need to start using allconsuming with all the books, movies and cds I get.  — 1 year ago

That way I don’t buy duplicates and waste my money. I have a huge stack of books sitting on my computer tower however just can’t work up the urge to put them on the account yet. Maybe when I finally uncover my vampire slash paranormal huge box at the storage unit this will happen….

This will happen some other day…

I’ve passed the 200 mark on posting my consumed goods. I’m calling this goal met.

I think this would make for a great reference point. If you were ever in a hurry to find something you’ve read, watched, or listened to, you’d definately find it fast.
