Started the Couch to 5K program. So farm, week 2 and feeling good!
How to run a mile nonstop
How I did it: http://c25k.com/
I went from a complete non-runner to running my first nonstop 5K race with that Couch to 5K program, a walk-run interval training program. You start out by alternating walking 60 seconds and running 90 seconds. Then your running segments increase. It's a very gradual process that WORKS!

I have fitness phases…I’ll exercise everyday for a week then stop suddenly, w/o the drive to do anything anymore. Then I’ll start back up. So if I actually stick with it, I’ll do well. I’m out of shape, but I can run for 5 minutes straight. Which is really something, when you suck at running as much as I haha.

My freshman year of highschool was the most recent time I ran a mile without stopping. I had to do it for Physical Fitness Testing in p.e. A friend was running with me and she pushed me to try to run the whole thing with her. We were slow, but steady and I felt accomplished. I’ve got a way to go now. Unfortunately, it’s snowing now and it will have to be on a treadmill.
It took a long time to do this without being winded, but I’m finally there. I have some great tips that will make this easier. I’m actually up to 2 miles.
1. Don’t over breath. It over oxygenates your blood.
2. Take the scenic route. Plan your run with google maps. Nothing is more boring then seeing the same thing every 1/4 mile.
3. Breath right. For me I’ve found 3 steps in through the nose, 2 out through the mouth.
4. Endurance. Pick a point in front of you that you think you can get to, get at least to that point. Next time you run, pick a point that is 20 ft farther.
5. Do it everyday.

I managed to scrape up my knee really badly, there’s still a 3-inch line where it’s trying to heal, so needless to say, I haven’t really been running lately. I hope to start soon, though.

outside and I can’t stand to run in 70-or-hotter-degree weather. Well, even less so than running in general. So, it’s going to become part of my plan to run in the evenings or mornings before the sunrise begins to heat my section of the earth up to insane temperatures. We’ll see how that works next week, after moving and beginning to work 10-12 hour days…

Training for the 5K has really pushed me. I’ve been trying to keep up the whole “couch to 5k in 9 weeks” program. I’m up to running a 2.5 miles nonstop. Thanks god for the cooler weather. It’s gets a little easier after I’ve run 2 miles. I’m averaging 9.5 minutes for my mile. Crazy. I remember a few weeks ago dreading having to run for 5 minutes without a break.
Keep it up everyone!

I’ve run a mile and a half, twice now. The last time I ran a half mile without stopping. The whole mile only took me 10 minutes. So maybe soon, I’ll be able to check this goal off and switch it to a “run a mile in __ minutes” :)

It feels good to finally run like this. I actually did 2 miles. Don’t give up, the satisfaction is great.

I started running about a month ago. I have been trying to do it everyday and can now run my route non-stop! Yay! I only need to measure it to see how long it is…
