~hopped~Doing a 10k

in Washington next month and my daughter will do the 3.7k there. It will be her first race. I remember my first one. It was life changing. My first 10k I ever ran still stands as the fastest 10k of my life. I flat out didn’t know what I was doing. LOL3 days ago

~hopped~So bummed!

Woke up last Monday with a really sore throat and the week went downhill from there. I did manage to run and workout at least 3 days but still, 6 days later, I’m extremely fatigued. Don’t want to work out and definitely don’t want to work in the morning…
Can’t stand colds!!! 2 months ago

~hopped~Tried my first plank

yesterday – 4:15. Thought it was easy at first but I soon discovered it was SO not. Now that I know how it is I’d like to try 5 or 6 minutes. 3 months ago

~hopped~With my 3.3 mile

run this morning I went over 1,000 total miles for 2012. Woo hoo! Pleased to get there despite my 7 week setback from my surgery. 5 months ago

~hopped~I haven't worked out

since Sunday and my body (and mind) are not happy about it. Sandy is to blame! So, I’ll try and dedicate a couple hours (or at least an hour and a half) to it tomorrow morning. 6 months ago

~hopped~I am nearing

1,000 miles in total distance. I’m pleased with this count considering what this year has been like. I may not be limber enough to do any PRs at this point in the year, but I do believe I am in better overall condition than even last year. 7 months ago

~hopped~A day off!!!

So I did some intervals. Mostly speed work. Did my first mile in 5:52 and then a much slower 5k. Think I might take on my 5k PR with a 5k on Sunday. Saturdays are always bad days to race because I need to recover from the work week.

Overall, I’ve accomplished “8” PRs in 2012! Many have come from races I’ve never ever ran, such as the 5 mile, 12k and 15k distances. But I’m most happy about my 5k which I have dropped down twice, both in 25 second increments, which is odd… 10 months ago

~hopped~Broke

19:00 for the first time with the 5k. Ran an 18:55 just days shy of my 48th birthday. Wish I would have ran these “distance” races when I was younger, but I’m pretty jazzed I can still hang with the younger guys even now.
I think I can go lower with my time…but not much more. :)
I still want to run this with a less than 6 min. mile pace. Maybe next week will be that moment. 10 months ago

~hopped~5k on Sunday

Today I did 4.25 miles and sprinted hard at the end. The question is, if I maintain 6:00 miles, how long and far can I maintain an all-out sprint? I’m not 16 anymore – I could maintain one for quite a while. I have no doubt I’ll crack 19:00. My goal is to crack 18:38 which would be -6:00 mi. average. I’d be happy about it! 10 months ago

~hopped~Intervals today

Will be working on the 5k for the next couple of weeks.
Ran my first mile in 5:58 plus another 3.2 miles. 10 months ago

~hopped~1:32:59 Half Marathon

for my books. My next PR. Yeah… I’m happy about it. Really don’t like this distance, but I wanted a good result pretty bad and I think I got it. Okay, time to rest! 11 months ago

~hopped~I got another

hour-long deep tissue massage. She worked all the trouble areas really hard (painfully hard), but I loved it. I have my eyes on a Half tomorrow, but I’m not walking too well today (rough week behind me), so we’ll see if I do it at all. But if I do…attack mode. Buh-bye previous PR! Hopefully the massage will help me for tomorrow, not limit me… 11 months ago

~hopped~A bit disappointed

On track for a 1:35-36 Half and a bailed at 10.8 miles. Leg cramps. I’m not too too bummed about it, though, because I think a 1:32 is in me. ...but I must say I’m not exactly fond of this distance. I’d rather focus on 10k and under and I will in July 11 months ago

~hopped~End of May

534 total miles. 11 months ago

~hopped~My 15k time

was a much slower 1:07:25 compared to the 12k I did recently. I’m still thinking some day I can maintain a 7:00 mile pace in a Half, but it doesn’t feel like I can do it yet.
But as I said, my PRs will drop like flies this year and I’m well under way. Just need to stay healthy. 11 months ago

~hopped~Going to see

a massage therapist today. I’ve heard she’s brutal. ...this’ll be fun… lol 12 months ago

~hopped~12k over the weekend

51:56. A bit beyond the distances I’m good at, but I was able to hold up under 7:00 miles. It was 73 degrees at 8am start time, so I lost a lot of fluids. I prefer about 60-65 degrees. I lacked umph in this one, but I’m quite confident I could maintain this in a Half which would be about a 1:31. I’d be stoked about that! 12 months ago

~hopped~5-miler

and I’m eyeing 33:00 – 33:30. We’ll see. Don’t know how fresh my legs will be. Hard work week behind me… But I’m in attack mode! 12 months ago

~hopped~My goal

is to take down all my PRs this year, with the exception of my 10k time. I did it when I ran track in high school and doubt I can touch it now.
5k
5m
12k
15k
10m
20k

will all fall in 2012. 12 months ago

~hopped~PR today

My surgery in January didn’t slow me down. In fact, it’s made me more determined and disciplined to achieve my goals. Got fired up this morning and motored a 19:20 5k! Overall average 6:13/mi. pace. Makes me excited to go sub-19 in a race this year. I’ve been looking over some local races and I can’t wait to run!

Only to motivate me more, I saw that my last mile was under 6 minute mile pace. It just proves to me I can run a 5k at a 6:00 mile pace soon.

Screw you UPS injuries!!! 12 months ago

~hopped~A decent

10k yesterday (after a brutal day at work on Friday) and a pretty decent 5k today. Think I should definitely be able to produce a PR next sunday. A good flat 5k course for motoring & hopefully relatively warm will help. Plus, I talked with a half marathoner outside the library yesterday and he got me itching to race. It’s one thing to train and work out, but it’s entirely another to race with fellow enthusiasts. :) 13 months ago

~hopped~Very good day!

Went 20:17 at 5k after going out at a slow pace. I’m thinking 19:30 is probably just around the corner for me. Would love to do 19:30 in a race in the next couple of months. That’s just under 6:15/mile pace. I can do that! I know I can! 13 months ago

~hopped~Ahhhh...

21:00 5k before work yesterday (an 11-hour day…). A good run but I’m tight and sore from some squats the day before. Maybe with less fatigue and more rest I can push the envelope soon and gun for -20:00. I’m a good 5-6 weeks ahead of last year’s fitness. Maybe it is because I was quite patient during my recovery process and committed to getting bck to work in shape rather than pounding myself back in shape from work. But it’s good! I’m pleased with my gains. And now I’m 10 lbs. down from post surgery weight gains. 13 months ago

~hopped~Ran

a 21:21 5k with the pedal about 3/4 down. I’m still about 7 lbs. fom where I want to be, so I think that once I can manage to lose that extra “baggage” I can be competitive at the 5k again, and even 10k if I can add some endurance to my fitness level.
Feeling good! 14 months ago

~hopped~5.5

mile run.
1 mile walk.
Feeling good, but my weight is still an issue. Hovering high and not moving, but I go back to full-time work tomorrow. It’ll come off faster. I’m positive about that. 14 months ago

~hopped~1

mile run and 2 mile walk. Both calves are being pains in my ass at the moment. My plan is not to work them at all tomorrow. Hopefully they’ll be nicer to me after a little rest.

3.5 mile bike.

Finally some weights – but VERY light.

lats – 4 sets
dumbbell curls – 2 sets
curl bar – 1 set
leg press – 3 sets
rows – 4 sets
elliptical – 20:00

Post-surgery total:
Run – 51.25 miles
Walk – 87.3 miles
Bike – 37.5 miles 15 months ago

~hopped~5

miles at a very moderate pace (hope like hell to speed it up soon).
Happy about increasing the distance while monitoring my “tweaked” calf.

1.5 mile walk. 15 months ago

~hopped~Yesterday -

4.25 mile run.
2 mile walk.

Some tightness in my calf. Will need to go carefully today and stop if necessary. 15 months ago

~hopped~4.5

mile run (first 3.1 in 22:22).
2 mile walk.

Increasing distance/increasing speed. This is good! 15 months ago

~hopped~4.25

mile run.
2 mile walk.

Post-surgery distance:
Walk – 66.7 miles
Run – 30.95 miles
Bike – 13.3 miles 15 months ago
