russellviii Getting ready for the summer's last vacation
I had some work-related stuff to do in Phoenix last week. After I was done I hopped down to Tucson again for a weekend visit with my good friend.
We had a great time. I have some pictures of places that I’ll be posting as soon as I get my camera batteries charged up long enough to download.

russellviii Getting ready for the summer's last vacation
I talked to my friend in Tucson the other day. I need to make quick trip down there to take care of some business that we have going there. I leave tomorrow.
I’ll be back late Saturday.
Then when I get back I’ll spend a two glorious nights in my own bed. The intervening day will be spent packing for a work trip that I have to take. Sorry, you’ll have to find out all about it when I get back.
This much I can say though: I’ll bag two more airports on this one. :-)
I’ll be gone for about a week. I’ll try to check in every now and then.
But in the meantime, smoke me a kipper, I’ll be back for breakfast.

Zaleya is ecstatic my candidate won in a landslide!!
That I have ever stayed in was the Royal Elizabeth B & B in downtown Tuscon, a total extravagant splurge for me but I loved the building (c 1880) and the the modern amenities in beautiful place. The breakfasts were works of gourmet art and the hosts were wonderful!

When I got to visit my good friend in Tucson this weekend, I can make a Diet Coke and Mentos geyser down there with him and his boys. This way I can do TWO things that are on my list at the same time! :-D
Proof positive that there is no “off” position on the genius switch.
My friend is an engineer like me. Between the two of us we’ll analyze this thing to death and figure out a way make it go like 60 feet high.

russellviii Getting ready for the summer's last vacation
Next week at this time I’ll be down there again. The only real downside is that my flight leaves really early in the morning. My ride comes to pick me up at 4:00 a.m. to catch a 6:00 a.m. flight. :-(
However, the positive side is that I arrive at about 8:30 a.m., giving me pretty much the whole day to hang out with my friend.
I need to take some pictures while down there. There have been some momentous goings on, both good and not so good, since the last time that I was there.

Found a great air fare this morning and booked it right away. I have to make a layover in Phoenix. No big deal. The flight through Phoenix to Tucson is actually cheaper than if I had just gone to Phoenix.
I leave on April 21st. I’m pretty happy about it. My friend in Tucson is happy about it too.
This time though, my son has to stay behind. It’s a pity.

russellviii Getting ready for the summer's last vacation
I had a great time with my friend when I visited nearly two months ago.
I found out that I have to go to Phoenix next week for my job. I called my friend and arranged to make a side trip to visit him again when I’m finished with my work.
It will be short, but it will be a lot of fun.
I won’t get to take my son with me this time. Too bad. He had the time of his life when we went last time. I hope that he can come with me again another time.

russellviii Getting ready for the summer's last vacation
My son and I went down there as planned. We had the time of our lives. My son had never been to that part of Arizona before. He loved everything about it. He had an amazing curiousity for everything that we saw. He had a smile on his face for pretty much the whole time that we were there.
I also had a chance to spend some quality time with my very good friend. The only regret that I have about the entire experience is that the time there went by much too quickly.
I’ll post picture and a detailed description later in 43P.

russellviii Getting ready for the summer's last vacation
We leave on Thursday night. We are both getting excited for the big adventure. I’ve talked to my friend and he’s ready for us.
The only regret is that we will be flying over the Grand Canyon in the dark. I wish that my son would have had the opportunity to see it.
When we fly home again we will cross over it in the dark too.
:-(

I talked with my good friend in Tucson. He says he can have me over anytime. I want to take my son with me on this adventure. He’s never been there before. I think that he’d have a great time.
My wife says that it’s okay for us to go. The only real fly in the ointment is that my work schedule is so busy right now. The days that I want to be go to Tucson are a couple of the days when it is critical that I be available. (Don’t tell anybody, but I’m secretly hoping that our schedule slips by about a week, so that it will be easier for me to go.)
